I have had a pretty long layoff. I wanted to know what you guys thought would be best for me to get back in the gym ? Should I start high or low volume, heavy or light? I have been away from the gym for about 4 months.
Just do what you did before - but less weights. I had 4 months off with an injury (my longest EVER lay off) and came back at 60% of my previous numbers. I then took 4 or so weeks to ease back in.
i took 2 months off 2 years ago and when i came back i lifted light. but i was coming back from an injury. i didn't even try and do deadlifting or anything like that.
Ease back into it man. You don't want to over do it and hurt yourself.
I would start off with doing full body workouts 3 days a week for the first month. Then you can get into a split routine and increase your training frequency to 4-5x a week
