Liquid Calories ...

Surgical said:
I've taken in liquid calories since day 1. Some people have jobs or lifestyles that make it almost impossible to consume 6 big meals a day. I like Prolab's N-Large mixed with skim milk. About 900 calories, 80 grams of protein, 100 grams of carbs. It's filling but doesn't bloat you. I always have 2-3 of those a day.

Love em....but it still bloats the shit out of me.....most likely the added air from the blender...but either way....when I come bacl from the office kitchen to my desk......It's bloat city.......:p

I would think the processing from a blender would be minimal, so the change in glycemic index or absorbsion would be too small to measure. You should be fine bro. sk man, I've read some of your post you are more intelligent than that.

Mostly asking cause I haven't heard of too many people blending oatmeal in their shakes. :)

I've done it actually. It isn't bad with a little chocolate flavored whey.

sk-
DO you cook your oats b4 blending tem in a shake?

Nope, I just put it in the shake. The penut butter taste usually overpowers all other tastes and makes one awesome taste. Then again, I love penut butter. :)

i feel that my gains have been slowed from not eating enough, this sounds like a very good way to fix that problem.

I was thinkin the same thing lol

Honestly I know the GI level won't change from blending it, but something in liquid form is always considered to be absorbed faster than of solid form. Compare a steak to a protein shake ...

good point there sk* However, if it was absorbed faster-- may raise the GI index a little? (white rice to brown rice etc) But I wouldnt be concerned about the GI of oatmeal since it is already quite low (bout 50 i believe). Is that what you are trying to ask?
