Leg lifts

If you are doing them while lying down then neither is very good.
Try then from a chinning bar. Keep the knees bent and curl the torso up with the lift...thats the key...then try to hold it for a second before doing another rep. sets of 15 work well. When you can do 20 start adding weight to your ankles.

If you mean the kind where you lie on your side and lift the top leg up and down, I think all you get is tired.

I do some kind of ballet/Callenetics leg stuff at the cable station with a cuff around my ankle. But, I think I'm probably the only person in my gym doing this stuff. I do side extensions, back kicks, etc. But these are just little things compared to leg press, calf raise, etc.

I do a sort of isometrics move for my inner thighs--sit on floor facing stationary object, put legs on either side of said object and push!

I am talking about ones on a slant board that you can vary the angle you are at.

And, before you say they are NO good at all, they helped this ol' fat girl CURE her backaches ...

sooo... your gonna lie there and lift up one leg?
I think leg lifts on a slant board work well. Just be sure to try and keep your lower back down on the board. This particular way puts your back at risk. You'll work alot of your ilio soas muscle but the whole area contracts and you will target more of the lower ab this way. A roman chair would work really well too or the chin up bar as RealGains suggested.

Is that what it's called? A roman chair?

I have gotten strong enough to actually DO those now. Except I fucked up my shoulder and it hurts to use one right now.

But since these legs are so $^&%^$ BIG and HEAVY it makes sense to use them in some sort of resistance exercise. By slant board I mean the thing that some people lie down on, head down, with a strap for the feet that you do sit ups on. It is possible to lie on it feet down and do leg lifts.

But does anyone know? Straight or bent leg?
