Leg Extensions....1 1/4 reps

I just started doing extensions again after a long hiatus from them and remembered this basic technique. It definitely provides a pump superior to conventional extensions and seems to work the upper 1/3 of the quad more effectively.

Very simple technique. Complete a full range rep, squeeze hard in the top postion for a count with toes pointed straight at the ceiling, lower only about a quarter of the way down, then return to the top. That's one rep.

Something similar I've done is "21s" but on both the leg extension & leg curl --

- 7 at bottom to mid range reps
- 7 at mid to top range reps
- 7 full range

My trainer currently has me doing 3 sets of 30 reps of leg extensions.....

OH THE PAIN!!

that's working the hell out of the lower areas of your quads, down near the knees. But I'd agrue that it's not doing nearly as much activation of the upper 1/3 to 1/4 near the groin insertion. Try the 1 1/4 style for 3 sets and see if it feels different for you.
