Law to build a 3200 km wall along the US border with Mexico!!!

This is so symbolic. The first suburbs with guarded fences around them are emerging in Europe, which used to be disgusted with this stuff before, now the USA may nationally physically shield itself from the poor.

Fences and walls are being thrown up at high speed, there isn´t time to waste. The middle class is dying off, the rich are getting ever richer and the world is hardening. Now is the time you can still get on the other side of the line.

I am truely anxiously scared of poverty. The thought of turning poor or never being able to make good money is the only thing that really gets to me.
um, for millenia nations were created inside natural barriers (oceans, mountains etc) and the concept of shielding ones self from threats, whether rich or poor, is hardly new. take a look at any tiered medieval city, with the inner city guarded and patrolled by soldiers, and youll see that theyre just big gated comunities.

personally i think youre being a bit dramatic about the whole thing. so long as there isnt massive segregation between classes (ie a caste system) and a reasonable public education system, then a man can always make his way in the world

the present rich may secure access to critical natural resources and markets, but ultimately, labour is always the most valuable resource, and the masses represent the largest market...and while there may be a revolt or two (and not just when alien amp pharm takes off his undies ;) ) the human condition will remain much as it is today. so relax.

I do suppose I was being dramatic, but I also think you´re being a bit naive. So long as theres a good public school system? Public school is being built down rather quickly. of course the masses are the labour and the market. That does not make it impossible for a strong polarisation of rich and poor to occur, as it has happened in many times and places in history.

I think it´s a good idea but it´s going to be very expensive

Does it have a price ticket? did they do the math?

To build a fence from the Pacific to the Gulf on the US-Mexican boarder would cost about the same as what the US government spends in Iraq in one month.

A FAR wiser investment in US security.

imo there is already a vast gap between rich and poor.

you may be right about public education in your part of the world or indeed, worldwide, but for my particular locale...the only advantage of going to private school is the contacts you make on the inside, and the 'rich society' validation you get

most of the people in pharacy school were from private schools. i was one of the few from a public school, and while i think that the public school kids were a tad smarter as a general rule, teh rich kids werent too far behind. it was reasonably equitable.

now, when you start being able to buy your kids a university degree...well, thats another thing entirely. i strongly suspect i will be paying a couple of hundred bucks a week for a family member to go to uni and become an eye doctor, which SUCKS. fucking little cow, she better study her arse off and get into the public system, i can buy many, many gifts for my underage girlfriends with that 200 a week :mad:

Here is a link to the proposed legislation and 'talking points':
http://www.fairus.org/site/DocServer/true_enforcement_reference.pdf?docID=681.

The government’s lack of concern about illegal immigration – at the borders and inside
the country - and mass, uncontrolled legal immigration compromises our national
security and perpetuates our vulnerability to future terrorist attacks.

America is experiencing an immigration crisis
 Illegal immigrants cost taxpayers nearly $70 billion/year in government outlays
for health care, education, jobs, housing and other programs. (FAIR report 2005)

 The IRS estimates illegal workers cost our county $400 billion in unpaid taxes—a
number approaching the entire budget deficit for 2005.

 In 1997 there were 18,000 worksite arrests of illegal workers. In 2003, that
number dropped to a frighteningly low 445 arrests. (DHS Office of Immigration
Statistics)

 Illegal aliens hold 12 to 15 million jobs in the U.S.—8% of the employed are
illegal. (Justich, Robert, “The Underground Labor Force is Rising to the Surface,” Bear Stearns Asset Management Inc, January 2005)

 Approximately 287,000 to 363,000 children are born to illegal aliens each year. In
California, 22% of all births are to an illegal alien. (Center for Immigration Studies,
2005)

Americans demand immigration reform
 63% of Americans believe “current immigration” is a threat to national security.
(Rasmussen Report, 2005)

 62% of Americans believe current immigration is a threat to the U.S. economy.
(Rasmussen Report, 2005)

 76% of Americans say it’s too easy for people from other countries to enter the
U.S. (Rasmussen Report, 2005)

 85% of Americans think illegal immigration is a serious problem. (Roper ASW, 2003)

 75% of Americans want stricter immigration reform. (Pew Research, 2003)

 80% of Americans believe we should restrict people coming into our country to
live more than we do now. (Pew Research, 2003)

TRUE Enforcement of our immigration system must be our first priority. This Act
gets its priorities straight. It is a no-nonsense approach to reform that makes us
more secure and best serves our national interest. It:
 Secures our nation’s borders and fully polices our interior;

 Empowers local police to enforce immigration laws;

 Encourages states and local authorities to share information with the federalgovernment;

 Forces the Department of Homeland Security to fully implement the
computerized entry-exit system, which allows us the track who’s crossing our
borders;

 Funds thousands of new Border Patrol officers, immigration investigators,
attorneys, and immigration judges.

TRUE Enforcement removes incentives for illegal immigration. It:
 Prevents employers from hiring illegal aliens (using a high-tech Social Security card and computer verification system);

 Punishes employers and aliens who try to get around the system;

 Restricts family reunification to nuclear family members;

 Denies birthright citizenship to children born to illegal aliens.

TRUE Enforcement fights abuse of the system. It:
 Stops illegal aliens from claiming the Earned Income Tax Credit;

 Stops illegal aliens from collecting Social Security;

 Stops employer tax deductions for wages paid to illegal aliens.

TRUE Enforcement punishes those who break the law. It:
 Makes the presence of illegal aliens in the U.S. a crime;

 Increases penalties for forging immigration and identity documents, and falsely claiming U.S. citizenship, etc;

 Helps law enforcement deport aliens who are criminal gang members;

 Creates criminal penalties for peddling Social Security cards;

 Increases penalties for alien smuggling.

This is the kind of legislation we need to support. Go to the FAIRUS.org site or NumbersUSA.com and contact your congressional representatives and senators and tell them they either support this or they do not get your vote.

Why dont your legislators just make an exception to the anti-lynch laws concerning illegals crossing the borders ? May sound radical but one, shit will hit the fan and there's nothing that will stop angry crowds from hanging 2-legged Tacos....

Then who'll clean their houses and babysit their kids?

Also, buy Hospital stocks.
