"A recent study of 1,001 patients found overweight folks slept less than their lean counterparts. So sleep, like exercise & diet -- may be a modifiable behavior when it comes to weight loss.
How? As you sleep, a hormone called leptin rises in your system. Leptin may be a major player in controlling appetite. The higher our leptin level, the less hungry we are. Sleep deprivation seems to interrupt leptin's rise, so those who don't get enough sleep tend to be hungrier."
