Sad. In 2012, I don't understand how we haven't gotten past all that crap. It's been 147 years since the end of the Civil War, and even the existence of any KKK or other anti-Black/anti-Jewish hate groups is a real mindbender.

off topic...sorta...we were on our way to the beach a few years ago and took an alternate route for some reason...wife wanted to stop somewhere or something...anyway, we end up driving through this small town named whiteville, north carolina...the first 10 people i saw on the street after we passed the welcome to whiteville sign were black...and being the immature and under-evolved person that i am, i laughed like a mental patient for about the next 10 minutes.
 
If I was black I'd stay the hell out of a town called Lynchburg, but I have a surprisingly high amount of black applicants from there.

meh...even assholes are entitled to freedom of speech and the right to demonstrate...gotta take the bad with the good...getting them out of the gene pool wood not be a bad idea, though, me thinks.

To me freedom of speech is a great right ,which most countries don't have and are even persecuted for, and we abuse it and take it for granted. Just like those assholes from that church who protested the soldier's funeral with signs saying he's going to Hell in front of his family. If that was my son I'd prob have lost it fucked some people up. Same with these backwoods ass rednecks. And their silly white dresses.

If what you are saying is correct, then verbal assault would not be a crime....hey it's freedom of speech isn't it? no my friend, freedom of speech does not mean you can run around calling people niggers, towel heads, dykes, etc...not all is fair in love and war

you're paraphrasing what i said, and adding things to it that i never said/intended/inferred...but, yeah...we have a first amendment here in the good old u.s. of a...and it ABSolutley gives those people the right (i.e., it's not just a privilege but a right...too many people get those terms confused) to organize and demonstrate...they have to get permits and stuff to be able to do so, but once they have them, they have the right to conduct their rally...period.

you may very well 100% disagree with it...but, that doesn't mean shit...i disagree with all sorts of stuff that i can't do anything about...another great thing about the u.s., you can disagree with all sorts of shit, in a very public manner, and no one can do shit about it...the first amendment works both ways.

You are exactly right and dude is exactly wrong as usual. My brother was a PA State Trooper for 21 years, and he just retired this past Friday. He told me that people are allowed to curse at the police because it is their "constitutional right." If a police officer arrests someone for calling them a derogatory name or for using profanity directed at them the cop is violating that person's 1st Amendment. I don't like it anymore than anyone else does. I feel people should give cops respect unless that cop is abusing his or her power. Now, if people are allowed to curse at cops---how much more would a civilian be allowed to curse at another civilian???

I was scared being the only honkey in sight, and they seemed quite angry at reasons that were incomprehensible to me at the time

I changed my course and was back amongst other honkies

that's just retarded...you have the right to be racist? that's not what the first ammendment entails....you can prove anything in a court of law, you just need a good lawyer.

No, you actually do have the right to be a racist. You also have the right to express racist views, even publicly and/or through media that distributes it widely.

The few restrictions on speech and expression are pretty specific.

For example:

1) You can't yell "fire" in a crowded theater.

2) You can't make false statements that damage a specific person's reputation.

3) You can't use "fighting words" intended to evoke an aggressive response.

4) You can't directly incite a person or group of people into action with your words (i.e. "Let's go get Traz and kill him!")

And while it's easy to think racism is covered by 3 and 4, I believe there's a test that if a reasonable person has the opportunity to think and process the speech before acting, then it's probably protected.

So it's a long-winded answer but yes, a person does have the right to stand on a street corner and make horribly racist remarks and fall back on freedom of speech.

by "you" i assume that you are speaking in generalities...but, yes...in this country you do have that right...one man's retarded is another man's liberty and freedom...and, while we're on the subject of derogatory speech and thought patterns, the word retarded (when used out of context, as in the instant case) is HIGHLY offensive to mentally disabled people and the people who love them...in fact, within that arguably small community (here in the u.s., even minority groups are entitled to a voice, btw) it is no less egregious than the word nigger...walk the walk.

oh and, if a good lawyer was the answer to this issue?? the kkk would have been out of business a long ass time ago.

they protest at military funerals all over the u.s....they believe that our soldiers come home in a bag because america has chosen to accept/embrace homosexuality and they believe (as their name indicates) that God hates fags...they find a military funeral, they apply for their permit to demonstrate, they show up at the funeral to protest and the police are required to protect them while they are protesting.

i find it rather ironic that many universities in the united states have a black student union...can you imagine the uproar if one of them had a white student union :lmao:

and, for the record, this ^^^^ is merely a social commentary on my part...i'm a libertarian (although registered republican) and, as such, i'm a live-and-let-live kinda guy...some things do strike me as humorous, though...and that's one of them...it's not the black student union but rather the reciprocal thereof...the mere thought makes me giggle...it's ludacris.
