Just when you think Sarah Palin cant get any stupider

Say what u want, she still remains in the news. Great if you want to mke money with talk shows, speaking engagements and the like.

When was the last time you heard McCain in the news?

1) You do realize that teleprompters are exactly like your little note card, right? If you were to use a tele, you would input your outline and it would come up on the screen so you didn't have to look down. It's actually a clever invention.

You've obviously never used a teleprompter.

Teleprompters aren't used for outlines. That's what speaker's notes are used for.

A teleprompter is a screen with a piece of partially reflective glass that shows word-for-word what to say in large type. The text rolls across the screen and it sets the rate of your speech. Furthermore, most modern ones can bold or italicize words for emphasis and most properly-written speeches will have instructions such as <pause for applause>, <shake head side to side> or <point to back of room> built into them.

They're braindead devices. It takes about 5-10 minutes to learn how to use one (yet a lifetime to master) and if you stick to it like a zombie, someone can sound fairly knowledgable about most things.

even better, I can write my whole speech ahead of time and read it back word for word without having to look down at notecards. I didn't realize they scrolled word for word text, but it actually makes sense. Kudo's to whoever invented that.

The secret to a teleprompter is to not fight it. It's nearly impossible to read one set of text and speak a different piece of text. Rest assured Barry has turned that higher intellect of his off when he's got that glass going.

As opposed to that room full of vicious sixth graders for whom Barry felt the need to use a teleprompter.

He didn't need a teleprompter to tackle and hand out a strapping to a room full of Repubs just recently.

Are you saying that a sixth grade classroom is a tougher crowd than the GOP? I this point, I would have to agree. Especially when the majority of them had to read their questions off cue cards anyway. You got the most powerful man in the free world in a room with you and you have been whining up and down nonstop about him, but when he says he is taking questions, you can't think of what to ask and have to read a cue card? What's wrong with that picture?

In regards to Palin's HillyBilly PDA, it is one thing to read a speech off a teleprompter and cue cards, but to write down talking points on your HAND? WTF? She couldn't find a scrap of paper somewhere? And writing down "Tax cuts"? She has to be reminded to mention tax cuts to a group of conservatives?????

Please explain to me how a teleprompter would be useful in a Q&A session. I think we'd both agree that if there had been a way for Barry to use one, he would have both screens running.

Meh, I wasn't impressed with notes on her hand either. It's just not that interesting to me one way or the other. But the fact that it's garnering presidental attention at press conferences is a huge red flag. Gibbs setting aside time to discuss Palin's hand but not mentioning a soon-to-be nuclear Iran seems like a skewed set of priorities.

And writing down "Tax cuts"? She has to be reminded to mention tax cuts to a group of conservatives?????

Let's be fair. At least she doesn't have to pull a Bill Clinton on us and string a sign that says: "It's the economy, Stupid" at her campaign headquarters to remind herself to stay on message. I don't like Palin or Slick Willy, but the lack of complexity in both themes does seem comparable.

lol At least she doesn't need a full sized teleprompter to give a speech to....6th graders.

UPDATED: White House Responds | Obama Uses Teleprompter To Address Sixth Graders, Media Mum | NewsBusters.org

Palin gets caught once with notes and it is all over the press but the president can't speak clearly and ALWAYS uses teleprompters and the press ignored it. Fuck, Obama is the one with thennuclear suitcase. IMO this whole mess shows who really is dumb.

She had notes on her hand for the question-and-answer session, with pre-screened questions. She used a prompter for her speech.

i think we've managed to successfully talk past each other here, as usual.

to be honest, i don't know much, because i wouldn't ever bother to take the time to learn for myself. much too self-absorbed.
gathering knowledge for one's self, forming one's own opinions, and actively fighting against bias to maintain perspective...these
are quite difficult things to do (for most people, i'd imagine, including myself).

most of the time, these "discussions" are only about expressing one's viewpoint, and that's it. it's about being right, not learning anything new with an open mind. this is based largely on my low opinion of human nature, EF people certainly not being an exception. it may not apply to all, etc., etc...

as for me, my opinions are also based on a great deal of emotion. someone here might present a cogent argument explaining why obama isn't intelligent, or why palin isn't a worthless telecunt, but i'm not likely to see most of it, because i have too much emotive power invested in differing opinions.

that said, i just wanted to say these things:

1. i'm not an obama fan. i do think of him as intelligent and articulate, and i am happy to have someone that comes across as he does, as opposed to a fucking fuck like bush. i do want to see him assert himself, like he apparently has recently (GOP conference Q/A session ?). he may be a poor leader making poor decisions which aren't "smart", but that's not the same thing as actually being unintelligent. unfortunately, i do not expect anything from him. no real strength or true character. in such a time, he must do and say things that people will not expect, even those that think him capable. a true and bold leader would have to make unpopular decisions (i.e. not bailing out every faggot on The Street), not merely give us talk while delivering more of the same. i'd love to see him tell more people to fuck off. we'll see what he's actually accomplished at the end of his term, but i'm not holding my breath.

2. i wouldn't simply dismiss gwb as a moron, despite his (at times) horribly comic presentation, but i've always seen him as a failure and a joke, despite his ascension to the highest office in the land - which is no mean feat. also, i don't think i've ever seen eye-to-eye with him.

3. the democratic party are a bunch of weak fucks, just horribly retarded and without any cohesion. but either way, they're politicians, and like the republicans, they are never, ever, ever to be trusted. ever. along with corporate america, government is anathema. if many of these people died, i would smile. the older i get, the angrier i am. there's no accounting for all these crimes - not by man, maybe god, if he's up there. one day, perhaps soon enough, something will snap. nothing lasts forever, and those in power shall be torn down from their high perches.

4. news outlets, specifically fox, but also cnn, etc...are worthless. cnbc too. merely entertainment, with 1% news. whether it's o'reilly, or hannity, or palin, or cramer...i want these people dead too. the only "news" i enjoy is the daily show, because he at least acknowledges and focuses on the utter absurdity of it all.

5. there's very little, perhaps nothing at all, in modern life that seems trustworthy or sacred. everything out there seems to be a farce, even though it pretends otherwise. i realize these feelings are poisonous and short-sighted, and don't leave much room for growth in life, but feel them i do nonetheless. it all rings true.

6. some of these are just my (relatively) superficial impressions based on what little i've seen and read. the truth, in all things, is rarely easy to get to. everything presented to you could be a lie, and often is.
