Just got George Halberts video!

Well we got his bench video yesterday and watched it before we lift. I know some of you may not totally agree with his type of lifting but from what I can tell from the video it might actually help me. He goes thought and shows you all the different lifts and how he preforms them for maxium results. He has alot of physics and math behind the programs so it makes me feel that much better about trying it. Its set up on a ME day and speed day. Thats going to be different from the way I have been training but I have been needing to switch up anyway. 90% of his lifts are done with bands. Me never mestioned chains though. He does mention in the end that we will have to train with it for a while and modify it to fit our lifting style. I'm excighted about getting into his workout. Were starting it next week. I will let you know how thr progression goes.

I don't know the exact westside routine but from what I can tell he follow it alot. He talks alot about Westside Barbell in the video and about Louie.

Thanks
I read somewhere that he has modified it quite a bit, which it's all about anyway.
Do you feel it was worth the money?

like I said before I'm not real familar with westside so it may be totally different but I do know some of the stuff is the same. I don't really know yet. I would like to think so. 3 of us went in on it together. Everything he said made good sence. He went though every lift(which is what I needed more than anything) and showed how to do it. He explains why he uses bands and how they work. At the end he goes though and gives an 8 week routine for a 300 pound bencher. I'm going to follow that to a T for the eight weeks. I will know then if it was worth it.

Hey Grantsdu -

could you give us a summary of that 8-week Halbert plan? I don't mean every single movement and rep, but anything you can give along a general overview would be very appreciated (does it include raw full-movement presses, does he switch assistance exercises every week, etc.)...

thanks

he trains at wsb. Do youself a favor and don't do everythign he doesn now -- do what he did to get there. Halbert is a freak and not all of us are like him. Do what works for you -- whatever that is. Take what works from the video and scrap the rest for now.

Prometheus,

I can't today, I don't really remember what all it was but I can thursday. We watched it last night as we lifted so I missed out on alot of the stuff. I do know it set up on an 8 week cycle and he changes everything every week on ME, I'm not sure about DE. I will get more info and let you know. 1-dawg, I totally understand but if I don't try what he does I won't know what works and what doesn't. Hes routine is set up for someone who benches 300 so is perfect for me. If I find that something is going to hurt me or not work I will drop it.

thanks again :) -- not trying to quiz you on it, just trying to figure out if his style differs much from "standard" WS, and whether it might be worth trying out and getting the tape myself.....

I would be trying to get all the info on it too. I wish I knew more about Westside so I could explain it better. I know he does leveral board presses, floor presses, camber bar work. All that stuff is really new to me but I will let you know how it all works out.
