Just found out my dog had bone cancer

Just found out my dog has bone cancer

I'm devastated. My 4 year old doberman has bone cancer. I just don't know what to do, I love her more then anything in this world. They said they can amputate her leg and put her on kimo therapy, but it would only prolong her life maybe 12 months---I really do not want to prolong her pain though.

Here's a pic of her, her name is Cocoa

I'm going to miss her soo much, she's been my best friend for 4 years.

I love you soo much Cocoa, I'll never forget you.

im sorry to hear that :(

So sorry to hear this. Pets become such a part of us.

What is it with Dobermans? I had one in my early twenties. He died of kidney failure at three years old.

Dogs are great !
We have had to put 2 dogs down to take them out of misery.
Our 15 yr old dog had a very very bad seizure last night and probably will need the same compassion..

Do not let her be in pain for 12 months.
It will hurt more to see her in pain, than to lose her and remember the good times...

My dog is going through the SAME exact thing. My dumbass mother who's so deathly afraid to let go has selfishly chosen to prolong the poor dog's suffering by going forward and making an appointment to have my poor pup's leg chopped off.

The cancer in my dog has spread from the leg to the chest and has made my dog's breathing very labored. It's so painful to watch your beloved dog waste away like a leaf in autumn. I say a prayer every day for a miracle for my dog...I'll include your dobe in the next one.

Yours is so young too...I'm sorry man, really i am.

i'm so sorry about your dog. i have a cat that is 9 years old and i would be very upset if i had to go thru what you are going thru. i don't know what i would do. to prolong the pets life is a little selfish people say, but we would do it for a family member. a pet in some cases is a family member. it is a tough decision to make.

:(

Sorry to hear that man, I love my dogs too. Dunno what I'd do without them, they can be such a comfort sometimes. :(

I am sorry to hear about your pup.

Last year I put down my 8 year old Rott. She had the exact same thing. Hers had eaten away her front leg bone. If she would have tried to jump or stop fast, it would have broken in half. HORRIBLE.

They gave us the option and as much as it hurt me, I had to put her down. I could not let her suffer anymore. I stood by her side through the final steps and we both shead a tear. :bawling:

Guys, thanks for the support, I really appreciate it. I was an absolute wreck yesterday, but today I'm feeling a little better. Really don't think I have any more tears left to cry.

I'm hoping for a misdiagnosis. The vet told me there's eaither two things it could be, one is bone cancer, the other is a bone infection. On exray they look identical, but they're strongly leaning towards the cancer since she doesn't or didn't have any wounds in the last week or so that could have caused this infection. I'm hoping that maybe she had a little puntuce wound in her paw maybe and it spread up to her ankle. God I'm hoping. They seem very possitive it's cancer though. I have to wait 7-10 days before the biopsy results are back from the University of Penn.

If this does come back cancer then I'm not going to seek any treatments just to prolong her life a few months. They said she'd have maybe 2 months of comfortable living left. At the first signs of her being in pain I'd have to put her down, I couldn't bare to watch her go threw that.

Sorry to hear about that. I just lost my dog of 8 years to Lung Cancer. He was gone within 3 days of finding out about it. I'm still trying to get over it.
