Product = Casa reduced-fat ricotta

Ingredients:
- Cheese whey
- Skimmed milk
- Milk
- Acetic acid
- Salt

Nutritional info per 100g:
100 KCal
9g Protein
4.3g Carbs
5g Fat (3g saturated)

I know milk protein is slow digesting and therefore a good choice before bed, but if the first ingredient is whey (fast digesting), should I save this product for other times of the day? I can't usually stomach milk in large amounts (certainly not at night) and I prefer the taste of this product to cottage cheese. Mature cheese has too much saturated fat and sodium for my liking.

Thanks in advance.

Yes, whey is the first ingredient, but it is combined with milk - which is slow digesting. It seems to me, this is similar to cottage cheese ....therefore, okay ..... other thoughts?

whats the deal with cottage cheese?
is it that good? i hear everyone taking it...so its gotta be i guess, only smart ppl in this forum lol

what should a daily intake be?

Well, ricotta cheese & cottage cheese are similar in how they are made..... What you've listed sounds similar to cottage cheese to me..... Try it with some sliced almonds on top....

the product seems alright. have you ever tried quark? it has similar nutritional values to cottage cheese but is a bit cleaner. it tastes like natural yoghurt really.

if you cant stomach a great deal of milk...because of the lactose, then you don't have to have dairy before bed. casein based meals aren't the only slow digesting options for before bed.

the ricotta product you mentioned can be had during the day as part of a meal...no problem.

Cottage cheese = casein (milk protein) = slow digesting, therefore an ideal protein source before bed.

Yes, I've seen quark on the shelves in the supermarket but only the full fat version (10% fat). If they had a reduced-fat product, I'd buy it. I'll have another look next time.

Ricotta is good. I have it every night before bed. Dont get non fat, id rather eat dog food. The part skim is good as is the whole milk form but its fatty. They also make a pineapple cottage cheese that is delicious even in non fat form. It does have some carbs though but its soooo good.
