Hi
For the past few months i stop counting calories(without eating to extremes) but i have been eating right.Lean protein, complex carbs and only good fats and i have been shedding fat and never looked better. So im wondering if counting calories is maybe not that important as long as your eating the right foods.
What do you guys think?

You don't have too, if you take pictures and notice results in the mirror.

edit: But it will certainly help to count calories, because then if you stall, you have something to work with.

I don't think it'd be necessary to count as long as one isn't going to far off the reservation. Then again I'm constantly on a bulking diet which is easier to be successful at.

You need to count protein grams and be sensible with the consumption, source and timing of your carbs (assuming your cutting). Fats should be trace amounts other than fish oil or flax seed. I'm not a full on keto fan otherwise my answer would be different as it relates to fats. Calories are only a byproduct of the grams of each macro so focus on the grams, it's easier to keep track and to count. So my answer is no, it's not necessary to count calories.

Hey bro don't forget that saturated fat isn't evil like everyone thinks. Make sure yu aren't cutting out all sat fat. If you're interested, check out the documentary "fat head" I'm sure everyone on EF should enjoy that one.

Interesting vid, thanks for that

its like asking if you should write down your workouts each day and what you did. for some guys they do it, for others they don't. i can re-trace my entire workout afterwards in my head and how much weight i did this time vs. last time. i can tell you exactly how much i can bench or squat etc. i don't need to write a thing down. but some guys have that personality where they like to write everything down and keep a diary. there is no right or wrong.

as far as counting calories i don't believe in that. keep track of your weight daily.. all gyms have scales.. keep track of your body fat.. if things start going wrong then figure out what you added or took out of your diet that is causing it.

also avoid ingredients in foods that you should not be touching. READ THE INGREDIENTS people. high fructose corn syrup, hydrogenated oils, salt, artificial colors, 'natural flavors', soybean oil... these will not or may not show up as calories in what you eat, but they are horrible for us that want to look good and should be avoided at all costs !

Yup, eat quality foods and keep track of your weight, how you look and how you perform and if something is wrong, check your diet closer.
