Is it mandatory to take a month off from lifting?

no wayy, a month is way to long, you would lose a lot of strength in that time. maybe a week, week and a half every 6-8 weeks.
 
Well I would still continue to do some body conditioning for MMA but just stop lifting heavy or light for a month.
 
I think for every week not training you lose about 3 weeks progress. Take the initial few days / week off, but try something different to retain your conditioning; lighter resistances, an outdoor activity / sport, circuit training / fitness classes etc.
 
A month is too long. If you need a break, no more than a full week. You'll lose strength and muscle past that.

My thought exactly. A week is the most I can take off without loosing strength. Anymore then that and I start to deteriorate.
