is it better to have a back day and shoulder day. or is it better to do them in the same day.

Shut the F*** up and train
 
I would definately recommend doing them on the same day, if youre doing the 5x5 make it look something like:

military press 5x5
side laterals 3-5x8-10
deads 5x5
chins 2x8-10
shrugs 2x8-10
rows 2x8-10
bent over laterals 2x8-10

Dont give shoulders their own day ever...

why is that? I get too beat up doing back for myself to put a great deal of intensity on shoulders, so I break them up
 
Right now I'm really focused on my back and after all the effort I put into back day, there is NO WAY that I could do much of anything after back workout. I advocate giving both their own day man. Others may disagree. JMO

I love back but man alive...I'm freakin toast after a back workout
