is Indian food the best?

Was having this debate with a friend the other day and he was saying that Indian food is simply the best food in the world
I disagree with him because they add so much spices to the food and if you’re forced to add that much spices then how can you claim your food as the best that makes no sense. He said the proof was people in the live much longer even though they have worse medicine and that proves the food is much healthier.
what is your opinion on this and does he have a point?

there are some good Indian restaurants out there and there's plenty of bad ones just pick a good place
