Is cardio enough?

I am a young woman, and I just want to shed someexcess fat and be toned – do I need to go to the gym, or cardioalone would be enough? I don't want additional muscles though.

The goal of cardio is to simply burn calories. It does not matter what form of cardio you do, as long as it gets you moving and gets your heart rate up! You do NOT have to do cardio in a gym.

You could go for a bike ride outside, go for a walk, skip etc. If you don't like doing traditional cardio on a piece of cardio equipment, then things like MMA classes, swimming, playing floor hockey or basketball etc. are great options.

At the end of the day, anything that gets you moving and increases your heart rate is a great option and good for fat loss!

For fat loss, cardio is the best thing - perdiod. Besides, it will also improve your muscle tone, especially if it will be some sort of an active cardio, such as running or zumba. These will burn fat like crazy, and you will really feel the muscle burn.

Cardio will get you there when combined with a good diet putting you in a caloric deficit. The best results come from doing both cardio and weight training. Women will not get bulky like men do just from lifting weights. Weight training is great because your metabolism will stay high for another 1-2 days whereas cardio is done when you are done.
