Introduce yourself

I'm new here and to the weightlifting game but hope to make some improvements.I'm 21 and about 170l.bs at 5'11.I plan to get my degree in criminaljustice & filmmaking.I'm currently trying to start my own notebrokering firm.I'm also thinking about joining the navy maybe as a S.E.A.L or navy diver.Well thank you for your time.

I'm 29, 5'11" about 187 or so.

Grew up as more of a nerd than an athlete. I was on the football team in college and that's what got me into weight lifting. I've also skateboarded on and off since I was 15.

I broke my left elbow severely (as in 3 screws and a pin to reattach a ligament to my humerus) last January. I came back to lifting too soon and probably aggravated my elbow. This past December I had another operation to remove some bone, scar tissue, and 2 of the screws. I can now do some lat pulldowns and sissy push-ups. I am not going to push it AT ALL this time.

I used to be really religious about working out. Now I realize that being well-balanced is the key with fitness just one of the pieces that fit together to make the person whole.

My best lift ever is a 405 DL. Right now I just do squats and leg work as well as pec dec and pull downs. I tweaked my back a while ago so I won't be doing DLs again until that is sorted.

Sorry to use the metric system, but I'm not comfortable with all those inches, pounds and stuff.
So, I'm 162 cm tall, weigh about 70 kg and I am 41 years "young" :)
I did track and field, when I was young, and it was then that I made friends with weights. I did javelin and shot put. In the end of my studies I found the gym and started lifting more seriously.
My goal has always been to add more power, but I have had problems with my shoulder recently, so I haven't been able to go heavy all the time. I love powerlifting, have been in one raw bench competition (80kg). Squat is my weakest point, have done 102,5 kg at the gym. Deadlift max is 130kg.
But I'm interested in all kinds of power sport. I took part in chin-up championships two weeks ago, I was second. And BTW, I still love to go and throw the javelin, the discus, the hammer, the weight and to put the shot, in the games for the veterans.
I've got lots of other interests, too. I read a lot (fact and fiction). I play the piano and try to compose pieces of my own (and I know how to handle a guitar). I sing in a choir. I write stories (that are buried in my drawer). I learn new languages, actually, I consider myself a linguist. And I'm learning new things about computers.

I'm a guy who read about the sport of powerlifting and I started working out in my home gym like 3 month ago. Before that I would never gain any muscle, just tone a little too much and get overtrained while remaining fat because of bad diet. I'm trying to figure out what will work for that. I'm 23 and half german half croation and used to do track and field and basketball on a german (looser kind of like Detlev "ball-knee-out only 3 timer during Seattle-Bulls Final" Schrempf, [the best German for a long time]) level and played tennis for years when had to stop doing sports. I went to Eldorado Highschool in Placerville and tried out for football. Got on the varsity team and that's how I met the american way of sports for the first time. I was DB covering flats and our running back did a sweep. Breakdown position....Readyto shoot at him....angry like a moth...(RB takes helmet down) ...what the? ...bahhhhhmmm. Whole team cheerin when I got right back up. Later on in the weight room. So germ watcha bench? Going out for QB? Me (intimidated): Hell no. I'm just out here for the fun. Spencer: Ahight you found it. (Gets on the bench) I'm like what the fuck and he benches like 350. For reps. Took a shitload of pills and who knows what else though.
I've had serious knee problems ever since, because I think he fell on my overstretched leg when i was out after that head-on-collision, but now (4 years later) I'm building the muscle to come back to Basketball with a much stronger base this time. The knee gets better from squatting. I could go on and on but basically I'm with PL now and bench 200 squat 200 (taking it easy on this one) and DL 250.
I currently weigh 175 at 16% BF (fat takes as long to go as to come, huh?)

I learned all i know on a German Board: www.ironsport.de (all you have to do is listen to Rammstein all the time and you'll get the hang of german :-) )
That board is way small compared to this here and I'll shut up and start reading now.

23yrs old, been around for a while mostly just taking in great advice from the board and its members, lost around 100lbs now at 195lbs.. getting leaner by the day

Hi guys,

21 yr old male, approx 200lbs @ approx 14% bf.

I've been lifting on and off for a couple of years, but now I'm trying to get into a more disciplined and steady routine. I'm going to work on flexibility and general fitness at the moment, and my goals are to increase my relative strength. I'd like to increase my jump, and general agility and quickness rather than gaining lots of weight.

Aiming to get stronger, quicker and more functional. Not so concerned with aesthetics.

Hows it goin.
I'm a 17 year old from San Antonio, Texas, USA, hoping to learn some new information from this great forum.
I've been working out for about 2 years, and have enjoyed its wonderful benefits. I hope to learn some methods to invigorate my already healthy lifestyle by reading these boards. Down with junk food and soda!! :p
