Intensity cycling (work outs)

So we all know you can't go heavy all the time, that sometimes you need to take it easy. Next week I'm taking a week off, as I do every few months or so. Last time was in August. When you guys cut back on intensity, do you just use a % of your usual weight for a regular 6-12 reps, or do you go light weight and higher reps?
