Info on bands

where can I learn more bout the bands used in benching, squatting, etc? I want to know what sizes are used for what exercises, where I can get them, etc. hook a brotha up

www.elitefts.com Dave Tate sells them there, and I highly recommend buying from him, if for no other reason than his customer service skills. Great guy to buy from.

We use them for dynamic work, as you mentioned, and we use different bands for different levels.

For example, our crew is in a "circa max" speed squat phase right now, and I used 185 pounds plus green bands for speed work last night. Now their "green" bands aren't always "green" so I should tell you that they are the "average" bands. I think Hannibal DOUBLES the Blue bands (called "strong") with the pinks (called "light"). I don't bench with bands yet, because of my shoulders...still getting stronger. I use chains for that. Hannibal uses minis, 2 of them, doubled. I think a few other guys...maybe jeremys ???...do this too. For deadlifts, you often have to rig something up, and the band tension can vary by whether you pull conventional or sumo (different range of motion).

Here's an article from Dave about accomodating resistance that I think is really thorough, and gives examples of how he uses them:

Accomodating Resistance by Dave Tate

thanks. I am planning on going westiside sometime this spring, and I think I could benefit from those aforementioned bands. not to be off topic, could you also hook up some links for westside info for starters?

Seriously, www.elitefts.com is your home for it all. Go to articles and just start READING. I highly recommend the tapes Dave sells too. They have been worth every penny. Like a movie where every time you watch it, you notice something new that you don't remember seeing the previous time you watched it. He has a Q&A section, and he's great about getting back to you.

..and of course there are alot of us here that will help you too. :)

i double the minis on DE bench day. i have a pair of minis and a pair of average bands. i love em. you can add them on other lifts too. i use the mini's for reverse hypers and sometimes use them for other assistance lifts

Oh yeah, I wrap them around my neck for glute ham raises and add a plate too. We use them for barbell push ups, rolling tricep extensions, barbell tricep pushdowns...

I could go on and on with the stuff we've rigged up. They are about as useful as your imagination allows them to be.

...and damn, do they work!

I got my first 2 bands from Dave Tate and customer service was excellent. I got them so FAST. Plus, I was glad I could throw a little support to a site that has helped me.

I ordered the next 2 straight from jumpstretch.com (dave was out of stock) and they took MUCH longer to get here.

bands are a form of accomodating resistance. Read the article spatts posted above.

elitefts is a very professional site...i've ordered my bands, and tapes from them. Excellent customer service too.

So many people have had good luck with orders from that site...I'm glad you did too, t3c. I remember CK ordering some strongman videos, and not feeling like he got anything out of them at all. I think he even posted on the PL board that he figured he'd wasted his money. Would you believe Tate refunded him, just because he didn't like the videos? How's that for standing behind your product? I've never heard of anyone doing that on a copyrighted material that had been opened and viewed. I had to email him and thank him for doing that. I recommend him to just about everyone, and for him to do something like that really makes me feel comfortable about it.
