Independence of Texas. Thoughts.

Texas v. White the supreme court ruled unilteral secession unconstitutional, however it could be granted with the states permission. For all intents and purposes seceding is impractical because the federal goobermint and the other states are too intertwined for secession to work favorably for all involved.

what you arent factoring is the US armys individual soldiers willingness to invade a fellow state for something such as seceding. Would you do it?

The same way someone under suspicion of not being born in the united states can. Except that guy actually won, then proved he was legal to run for president after the fact. Turned out to be a distraction thankfully.

If you'd ever been to TX for any decent length of time you'd understand the loyalty and heritage of the people to State before country. That being said, check out the percentage of the U.S. Marine Corps that hails from Texas.

In the Annexation Treaty, TX reserved the right to secede and break into 5 smaller states. I have seen the documents on display in Austin.

Also, why it would lead to war is beyond me, but if it did, noone is going to 'run over' a free Republic of Texas. Do a little research yuppie.

No, Texas is the only state that may fly its flag at the same height as the USA flag. Texas doesnt have an emblem, it has a seal and Im pretty sure no other nations are on it.

Nobodys being racist. If anyones born in their country then they are a native of that country. "Native American" has been co-opted by politicians and political movements and twisted to mean only a certain type of person born in this country. But everyone knows if you are born in a country, no matter your skin color or ethnicity, then you are a native of that country. Native French, Native German, Native Australian all mean a person born in that country but when someone says Native American then all of a sudden it only means a certain type of American born here. Baking Soda is still baking soda even though no one uses it as baking soda anymore.

If they want to be called Navajo, Comanche etc then thats a lot better than Native American since the actual meaning has been twisted over the last century.

He was never under suspicion, except by the brain dead. He proved he was born in the USA right from the start the same way every other candidate has proven it. You think Obama invented the short form birth certificate? Some states have no other option and no short form used by any white man has ever been questioned.

The media really likes to get people riled up and lets not forget many of the news stations who were fixated on this topic were republican based. No one ever hears the whole story, let alone the real story so you're left to do your own (hopefully accurate) research. As for tanks and the army going into Texas...NOT GOING TO HAPPEN...ever..why? Because the citizens of the United States would see this as extremely drastic and almost war like on our own territory we would be the laughing stock of the world...well...we kind of are already but still Obama wouldn't allow it. I dont support Obama but I don't think he's as dumb as some people claim him to be

There is nothing twisted or co-opted in the term Native American.
It by definition refers to American Indians. It is legitimate to refer to the "native peoples" of a particular geographic area. And you are right that native can also mean to be born in that area, but you guys are arguing about which definition is right, when they are both right.

If Texass wants to be independent they can pay our country a few trillion for all the federal money they have received over the years, and they of course do not get the oil, which is a federal asset, and then we'd have to take the coastline too. And of course Texas would have no possible chance of surviving on its own, and there would be 90% pissed off regular Texans when they realized their lives went down the tubes because of an extremist right wing agenda that just wants to tell those regular people to fuck off anyway.

But that's all theory. It won't ever happen.

I think the govt needs to be toned down. Do I think starting a revolution by seceeding is the answer??? If you don't want to live here, you're welcome to move 2 Chechnya like the 2 terrorists. Think about what we are talking about here. Texas seceding. What happened last time states wanted to secede? Civil war. This no minor deal.
And it would in fact be a huge unprecedented destabilizing action for the whole United States. So war is not a far fetched consequence, simply based on historical precedent.

It is completely ignorant to think that a state owns everything inside its borders and can function independently the same as it has as part of this country. Its like your arm trying to live separately from your body. It would be a disaster for Texas, and a disaster for the USA.
It's a really stupid thought by not too bright right wing extremists, which are somewhat common in Texas. Guys like dumbbastard will never get it.
The USA would simply say no. Then what? How can Texas secede without the permission from Washington? They can't. Except by force. Which is still not possible.
