Increase Weight while cutting?

Legion Kreinak

New member
Should I increase the weight I use for my exercises while cutting, drop them, or keep them relatively the same? And how do I know the weight is good for strength gains? I do 8-10 reps... should I make sure I have to rest before I can do anymore? I know on the first set the weight isn't heavy enough so I can do like 12, but then by set 3, I can just accomplish 8. Is that a good weight, or should I have one I can only do 8 for on the first set? Because to me, that means I'll have to drop the weight by the last set, or do less reps...

you'e cutting already? jesus...

anyways, you're pretty much screwed for gaining strength unless you are just starting out.

you're not an idiot, but you need to learn how to keep things simple. Here what you should do:

First, add muscle to your frame. This includes hitting basic exercises and eating 5 to 6 meals per day. You need plenty of rest. Remember, you will not obtain cuts in your muscle until you have achieved an appreciable amount of muscle mass. Spend the next two or 3 years building a foundation of strength and size. Thats what I did.

At your age, there is no way you can build big muscles by eating 1900 to 2000 calories per day. At your age your metabolism is fast, as your body requires a tremendous amount of energy for growth. Your hormone levels are pumping to the extreme. If I were you, I would take advantage of this by eating 3500 calories per day and training hard. You are guaranteed growth if you play your cards right.

Here may be some disturbing news for you. Training for strength and cutting bodyweight (fats) does not work. If you are consuming very few calories how do you expect to have enough calories to meet the needs of your metabolism and your workouts? Once gain, your caloric intake for the day will be negative. Carbohydrates provide energy to the cells, fats provide lubrication for the joints and help produce hormones, and proteins provide growth for tissues. When you restrict carbs and fat out of your diet. . . what do you have? Well, lost energy and lost support for the joints. Soon, your strength will stagnate and your results will be minimal.

As a repeat, you need to be concerned with adding mass and developing strength at this point.

Developing cuts only comes when you have enough muscle. You can do this a couple of years down the road.

You are trying to do two things at once, which is not effective. I am affraid you are expending too much energy on how to train, what to eat, what supplements to take, and what routine to follow. Do your research and MAKE THINGS SIMPLE!!

Remember, developing a physique takes time and patience. I hope some of this information helps.

nice post Louden_Swain

He is totally right thou Legion, you can only really do one thing at a time with great efficiency, but try my young Padiwan, I just hope you do not get discouraged when you see little results... if it was that easy I would have do that at your age but it isn't....
