In response to extremely high reps with low weight

Read a couple of days ago a thread about doing extremely many reps with very low weight, and I though of trying out an alternation between one day many reps/low weight, and another day low reps, a lot of weight. This might be quite an effective way of training I guess...

I am a big advocate of training everything twice per week when on cycle. The more often you train a muscle, you more growth stimulus you get. You won't be able to use quite the amount of volume as you would normally but scientifically, it's the fastest way to grow. I like to first train the muscle in the heavy/powerlifting sense each week and then train the muscle in a pump/bodybuilding style later in the week.

This is my current training split:
Day 1:
Leg strength
Day 2:
Push strength + abs
Day 3:
Pull strength
Day 4:
Leg hypertrophy
Day 5:
Push hypertrophy + abs
Day 6:
Pull hypertrophy
Day 7:
20 minutes intervals, 20 minutes steady state cardio. Abs

Give it a try if it interest you.

You always need to experiment with your body and see how it responds to diffrerent workout regimes. So that might give you some extra edge in the process of building muscle for sure.

It is always a great idea to switch up your routine and keep the body guessing. I don't run a routine for more than 6 weeks at a time. Typically I stick to 4 weeks.

It is definitely a good idea to do this differentiation. In fact, I do this on a regular basis - do one approach for 1-2 months, and then switch it. Besides, this adds variety to working out, so it is easier mentally to do something different from time to time.
