If Gore were in office.....

what do you think would be different? what new paths would this country be taking to improve:

1. education
2. social security
3. health care
4. taxes
5. welfare
6. foreign policy

just to name a few.

1. education....Gore would have resisted any efforts to foolishly privatize education.

2. social security...Gore would have put it in a "lockbox" and would not have touched it for large, ineffecitve defense projects as well as tax cuts for the rich.

3. healthcare....with a Democratic Congess, Gore may have finally been able to achieve universal healthcare, a crusade started by Senator Rodham-Clinton. Remember, healthcare should be a right, not a luxury.

4. taxes.....Gore would have proposed targeted tax cuts for lower income and middle income wage-earners, so that ALL of America gets a fair tax-break, not just the wealthy.

5. welfare....Gore would have continued to end welfare, just as his predecessor Mr. Clinton did. Remember, Pres. Clinton is the reason the welfare lines have dramatically increased.

6. foreign policy.....Hussein would be the next to go, under Gore.

thanks for replying ryan. good points made. i'd go with everything except the healtcare issue. many canadians have said that the universal healthcare is'nt much to talk about. you get what you pay or don't pay for. i hear those who get the gov healthcare get substandard treatment both for the illness and in general. i'd go for something like tax breaks for inusrance companies who probide affordable and reasonable policies for people who can't afford the best policies. reasonable policiy would be like to cover basic doctor's visits and assist in paying for tests like mri's or xrays which are expensive. blood work should be a part of the treatment not an extaordinary expense. they should help cover meds too. then the next policy up would be more expensive and cover all that plus help pay for hospital stays. then so on and so on. universal healthcare is nice in theory but reality is it would'nt work for many reasons.

just a reminder, i voted gore. uh oh, here it comes now.:)

If Gore was in there he would be saying lets practice "Peace and Love" and not go after the WTC bombers because they might get angry and attack us again.

I seriously doubt this.

I just want o say that I voted for Gore..but I think Bush is doing good. I like the fact that he does seem a lil dumb, and very very very "normal"...NO sarcasm...seriously...I like him now, and I hated him during the elections...........

Yes, your right Ryan it makes so much sense to privatize education that liberals would think it is foolish. Tell me ryan name one thing the govt does better than private corporation do. Oh I will tell you they spend more money.

2. social security...Gore would have put it in a "lockbox" and would not have touched it for large, ineffecitve defense projects as well as tax cuts for the rich.

Yea I lockbox that makes a crap return so people paying into will never have enough to live on when they retire. Give me my money and let me invest it the way I see fit. I care more about future than the govt does anyday.

3. healthcare....with a DemocraticCongess, Gore may have finally been able to achieve universal healthcare, a crusade started by Senator Rodham-Clinton. Remember, healthcare should be a right, not a luxury.

Yea and then health would have went to hell and a hand basket and our taxes would have gone through the roof. And I hate the way you give such a proper title to that woman.

4. taxes.....Gore would have proposed targeted tax cuts for lower income and middle income wage-earners, so that ALL of America gets a fair tax-break, not just the wealthy

So you think it is fair that only poor and middle get tax breaks when the wealthy are the people that pay the biggest portion of the tax burden.

5. welfare....Gore would have continued to end welfare, just as his predecessor Mr. Clinton did. Remember, Pres. Clinton is the reason the welfare lines have dramatically increase

Ryan big news he is not Pres Clinton anymore he is "former" pres clinton(since you are so into titles lets get it right ok? And I can't believe you are giving the clinton clan credit for that. When it fact it was the republican congress that got it lowered and the better economy brought on by industry not the govt.

6. foreign policy.....Hussein would be the next to go, under Gore.

Where to the white house so Gore can leak some more technology to him for reelection money?

dgreen

3000 americans would be alive were it not for bill clinton? Blaming him on the terrorist attacks is the most idiotic thing i've ever read on any bulletin board.

And george bush never admitted it, just said he would not talk about anything that far in his past. classic.......sniff sniff

I think he was whacked out on the evil white dust this weekend when he fell and hit his noggin.....GET OFF THE DUST GEORGE!!!!

Good points dgreenhill.

And another if someone fucks around on his wife(a person he gave a oath to), just what the heck do you think he would do to a bunch of people he doesn't even know ie the American People.

Actually, we saw Gore's tax proposals during the campaign...they amounted to a few credits and deductions that amounted to "if you do what I think you should do, I'll give you a few crumbs of your money back..after all, I know what's best for you."

And therein lies the difference between liberals and conservatives.

And Hussein will probably be the next to go, under Bush.

Also, whether you agree with socialized healthcare or not, the "crusade" for it started long before Senator Clinton. Ever hear of Senator Wellstone, for example? Contrary to RyanH's belief, not all liberal ideas spring from the brow of the Exhalted Saint Hillary.

Why does everyone say Gore wouldve captured Osama by now? They bombed our embassy, our War Ship and our Twin Towers and all Clinton/Gore ever did was drop a few missles. If they wouldve taken care of the problem 3000 Americans would still be alive...

I dont care either way (gore/bush)
But for all you people who say "gore would have captured OBL by now.." How????
What if given the exact same circumstance would Gore have done differently that would have ended all this OBL crap???

Well Alexia, Gore is a dem and as you know OBL is a minority. Since the minoritys love democrates, Osama would turn himself in after bombing our buildings. It would all be such a happy place if everone was a dem. Free education and social programs for all, nobody would have to work...Everyone would be equal and no matter how hard they worked everyone would achieve the same success. :fro:

Freudian slip here? Cliton did nothing CONGRESS acted, cliton road the coat tails. If unemployment was up, he just changed the requirement for employed. i.e. 18-65 ages. What is classified as handicapped, etc. was almost to 10% unemployment in the US was considered full US employment. Since Bush and Co. taken over, they are restructuring what is "employable." Beside, RYANH, as always say, look at VETOES, and what cliton did for the economy? Just look and answer. What programs or bill did he start that made the economy boom? I know NOTHING. That's why you never answer back....
