Ideal weight for 5'6" guy?

Symbot

I'm 36 years old, only 5'6". I've been lifting weights on and off since college. Recently, during the last two years, I've dropped from 220 lbs to 165 lbs. I've maintained the lost weight for a year. I lift weights by hitting each muscle group once week. I run on treadmill every other day.

I've packed on a lot of good mass but the fat and loose skin around my waist are still there. For a guy who is 5'6", how low do I need to drop my weight to get rid of the spare tire? I'm readjusting my goal. I thought 165 lbs would've done it but apparantly it wasn't enough. I'm not aiming for a 6-pack. I just want to be able to walk around shirtless without the spare tire jiggling.

im 5'5" and just under/over 200. ive been training for almost 22 years. 6 pack for me is around 185ish. thats not shredded/striated 6 pack. just the leaned out look. the ideal weight is for you to figure out. you may have dieted too much and lost muscle. my best recommendation, get a good bbing nutritionist. they can guide you and cut out all the mistakes youd make. i have 1 that i bounce ideas off of but have never paid for his services as i dont feel i need them. he just provides answers to questions i have when i need them. trainers who get people ready for shows are the best.

Yeah mate, i would say its to do with your nutrition. Post your diet up with cals/protein/carb/fats and second to that try find a good bing nutritionist as timtim said.

It's purely subjective..... what might be an ideal weight for one person might not be for another. You could go off the BMI chart, for a medium frame at 5'6 anywhere between 139-151 is ideal.

Hey bro, might not be the news you want to hear but take it from a fellow shorty- I'm 5'7/5'8''. You say you've packed on some good mass, but without knowing your lifts it's tough for me to make a mental comparison... so you know where I'm coming from I'll tell you mine for a reference point.

Two years ago my bench was 205 maxed, 300 deadlift and 270 squat (not great, but I was only 19). For a visual sixpack (10% bf), I had to weigh around 154lbs. Since your roughy an inch shorter than me, if we had the exact same muscle mass you'd need to weigh roughly 145lbs. If your lifts are higher than mine were, you might weigh more, so maybe 150 lbs.

But IMO 165 is still too high.

It's hard to gauge without knowing your makeup. You need to get a rough idea of what your bodyfat is. I'm 5' 8" 170lb. At about 160 I've got the 6 pack showing. The "love handles" though may still be there a bit. In your 30's those things are just harder to get rid of. At 170lb I'm roughly 16-17% bf. In the 14-15% range I've got the top 4 abs showing.

you said to get rid of the tire around the mid section..... well then what does the weight have to do with that? go by the mirrior, get rid of the tire and then weight yourself and thats your answer...the ideal weight with that height varies imo 100lbs! but to give you an idea im also 5ft6 (5ft7 online dating) and im 195lbs no tire :) and i plan on growing more and keeping my weight under 200lbs but whatever my weight ends up thats what its going to be....gl to you
