I am sick of it and I just turned him in.. so hes off at our main office blabbing his mouth to no telling who about no telling what... but I am not taking this shit anymore... If something isn't done, I'll take legal actions.

Have you filed a complaint or spoke to HR? I recommend building a case against him. Document every word of every comment and the time and date.

(BTW - This may be a sign for you to start on your future plans!)
 
Its been happing on and off for years. I don't like to start shit and for the most part just shake it off... but he's constantly complaing about people.. bitching about this or that.. thinks he can tell me what to do and when to do it and then we get in these screaming matches and he writes me up.. only for my boss to just disregard them, but all in all Im tired of nothing being done about it. He has no Fucking respect for me and im not gonna let this shit go on.

I was going off on him, the entire office just went silent...

Im so pissed.

Well.. thru my connections I know that he ran up to talk to the ditz in HR but she's out.

I went straight to the owner.. tired of playing around. I got an email back from him... I'll be meeting with him Monday. I don't complain about ANYTHING.. ever and I've been here going on 6 years, never a complaint... enough is enough with this one though and I know that he knows I am serious.

Please know that we can talk in confidence at any time. I don’t know what might be happening but I will do anything necessary to correct the problem or take actions

to assure that it never happens again. I will be in the office all day Monday or we can talk at any place you might be comfortable.

Though I know I did the right thing... hell that I should have done months ago... I'll be a mess all weekend worried about what will take place on monday. I truely love my job and the people I work for, this one bad apple makes some of my days hell.

He's a prick, bipolor also and has a problem talking to people including his welders on a human level... there are numerous complaints against him already for degrading and cursing out employees at the drop of a dime. Nothing has been done thus far so Im not sure what can or will be done this time. I have to work with him everyday because I am the one that draws all the prints for them to build off of.. I take measurments etc so we have to work side by side alot which is often times uncomfortable esp when he drops sexual comments... I don't like to ruffle feathers so I just ignore them usually but I've had enough.

I will request not to have to interact with him, I don't know if they can accomidate me and keep both of us on due to the nature of our work, but I know that the conditions at the office will never be the same. The tension is already there and now that he knows he's been reported it will be worse.

I lost my religion on him, and the entire office heard us going at it... more than one of the ladies knows what's happened with the harassment because I have told them in the past. My boss, the engineer was out of town on vacation, therefore I guess he thought he had command over me and could treat me like he does his workers, with not a lick of respect, but eh... Im not like his guys and I won't bow down to his manic behavior.. nope.

I would like to settle this as calm as possible but fear that its not gonna be so easy. Hes a needed employee as am I... Work is crazy and finding someone to replace either of us and train in the fields we are in would set the company back big time and would put us in a bind on the contracts we have to build the projects we need to build.

ehhhh.... I'm gonna stress this shit all weekend... I sure didn't need this right now.
 
those complaints just don't go away, they add up. they'll realize soon what a liability they have to deal with.

Hmmm have you kept a journal or memos or anything documenting the occasions and dates, what was said, etc when he has harrased you? That would help I would think but either way you should be able to threaten a big lawsuit against the owner of the company if he won't do anything about what that shit heads been doing. I think you'll be ok, you definately should have the upper hand in this one so don't let this stuff get you all riled up because you'll come out well on top

No I haven't kept a journal.. Just really thought that If I didn't respond to them he'd get the pt.. I'd for the most part walk away. I work in the oil field.. I hear alot of shit and I just let it roll off my back, I don't jump and tattle everytime something is said, I know the industry but he took it too far.

Even my boss, the engineer has said to me more than once that it was easy working with me because I didn't take things so personal and that I'd been there so long that sometimes in a room full of men, I'm the only women in my department, that some things come out that most would run and scream about but I don't let it get to me... No one else there has ever directed a statement TO ME like he has.. but I've plenty of times walked past the break table and had a clear view of playboy... or got caught in the middle of a convo that involved sex etc...

I seriously didn't want to have to go to upper managment but he pushed too many buttons with me and I can't deal with it anymore. I've become uncomfortable around him.. not that Im afraid, I know that I could handle my self but I shouldn't have to get uptight when Im alone with him in fear that hes gonna make a comment or say something disgusting to me.

Hmm I completly understand the need to be able to shrug everything off my dear, I was just asking that because you have had repeated problems with this person in particular that goes beyond the whole "boys will be boys" bs, if someone directly and intentionally makes you uncomfortable you shouldn't have to shrug it off my dear, thats not fair to you and shoulnd't be expected

You need to document it with HR EACH time he does it. Not just keep a journal because if he is sexually harrassing you and HR does not know about it, I dont think you have much of a case or they are at fault. I was there....all the way down to hot shot corporate lawyers.

Maybe now that you complained once, they will just move him to another job or let him go so you are not in a hostile work environment.

I've experienced this before as have a few other past coworkers of mine. It really does suck getting bitched at for no real reason. I'd just learn to roll my eyes and ignore it cuz it never made any sense. I even got accused of fucking up because of someone else's mistakes, and there's no reasoning with some people.

It was a while ago so I gotta think about it. I should dig up the old letters from lawyers to see what was said.

It was just typical male ego stuff that went to far. I didn't even complain, I was put on the spot about it and told the truth...he wanted to quit then, and my job got threatened by my boss...I loved my job so that was the wrong thing to do to me and then I got pissed...lol

The wierd part is after...because so many people do play around in fun, they acted uncomfortable around me. My boss was REPREMANDED HARD buy a top person in the company in front of my face and I know it went on his record. It was just plain awkward after between us. Male egos suck sometimes.


I seem to remember my lawyer telling me, HR had to be aware of the problem and NOT do something about it for them to be breaking the law. So basically, you have a case from what he does at this point on and how HR responds to it.

Well you could get the monthly I hate all of you, you suck, none of you are as good as me, and I could do everything better than you people e-mails that we get from the owner of our company. They are typically 5-8 pages long. He then doesn't apologize but sends out another e-mail telling us all he loves us and the company couldn't get along without us. The guy never apologizes for anything. I typically skim these e-mails and delete them. Maybe next time he sends one out I'll edit it for company info and post it up.

Update: I am going in to meet with two partners that own the company at 1:30

The Foreman cornered my boss, the engineer as soon as he got here and told him his side of the story... early this am he came to talk to me to ask me what happened.. and I told him everything. I have a very easy open relationship with him and even stressed the pt that i was in fear of my job for speaking out and that Im not sure how things will go from here because of the nature of our work and due to my actions it will make it a even more hostile working enviroment.. one which I don't think I want to be in.

He was very understanding, listened and his only concern was that he thought I'd made the report weeks ago and he was never addressed by anyone about it... I assured him the only reason I went to upper managment was because he was out on vacation and that was my only option.

I'm gonna go and just tell them of a few instances.. no need to dig them all up, IMO happeing once was one to many... and then we will go from there. I'm nervous yet its a huge monkey off of my back and I know I've done the right thing. No regrets just not sure about my future with the company.

Was a great meeting with two owners and the HR girl. Something will be done and now. They are gonna meet with my boss and with the asshole hear his side of the story, thought they informed me that what I've said sounds just like something he would do.

Owner told me that I will never ever have to worry about this guy thinking he's in total control back her not to ever worry about that,and that he's be fair warned already seemingly he just doesn't get it.

They will let me knwo what actions they decide to take against him.

Still in the process... I filled out a written complaint today and they will get together and decide on what exactly they will do to address everything.

They (bosses, owners) were completely on my side.. and assured me that they will take care of this problem and other problems i've had with this particular person.

I was gonna say at the beginning, before I read the whole thread, If you need this taken care of, I'm sure a significant percentage of posters here would help you out. You wouldn't even have to break a nail.

buy a cheapo micro recorder from Radio shack and just have it onrecord whenever he's near your presence to document his harassing comments...over a course of time, it shows its not just a one time thing, but always....then have enough ammo to burn him and settle with the company for sexual harassment
 
In the right. Never a question about that. Sexual harrassment/hostile working enviroment laws were DESIGNED for situations EXACTLY like this, and are totally in your favor.

Having been involved in numerous suits and almost the target of one very recently, i know of which i speak: the owner and HR person want to bend over backwards to KEEP you from going to a lawyer or making public one word about this: the ball is completely in your court, as we went over: if for any reason, any at all, you dont like where this is headed: its lawyer time to at the very least find out what your options are...

The realities are that you may very well have a clear shot at a major office upgrade/change, serious raise or if it comes to it, a very real possiblity at sueing the company for MULTIPLES of your yearly salary.

You said, and i perceive, that you are not in this to sue them gratuitously, as so many would in your shoes. That deserves big respect. HOWEVER, you certainly are NOT going to work someplace that doesnt give you a safe and comfortable working enviroment, and you are NO WAY going to let them make you leave your job and your safety net for yourself and your kids without a major MAJOR PILE OF CASH. If they cant rectify the situation internally, you will have it fixed via the laws meant for just this purpose...

Not sure where things go from here on out but I feel like I AM TO BLAME for some pervert making sexual comments to me... So yea.. Frisky adjust yourself because you provoked it some way some how.. In so many words thats the message that I recieved... but eh.. we are doing everything we can to fix the problem and make sure it doesn't happen again .. but keep in mind we want you to get fat and ugly so that no one wants to even look at you.

I'm deeply saddened with the meeting, though I love my job and my superiors they are in turn trying to please both employee's, myself and the guy that harassed me at the same time.. things can't quite work that way. Nothing is being done on any other level to reprimand him in anyway... not sure if something should be by law but that makes me feel like my claims were just that.. a claim, my side of the story... yet he agrees that he DID say those things but had reason???

I'm sick to my stomach that after I got up the balls to risk a job that I truely love and go to my superiors, I am treated like I am the cause of the problem. Those who know me, know that I am a very modest professional individual. I may carry myself with confidance but NEVER with arrogance and or dress to provoke this type of behavior in the workplace.

Second: NO ONE and i mean NO ONE has the right to make a comment about how you dress at work. You are a very classy lady, i have seen your work choices from casual to dressed up and NEVER have you ever looked less than professional. Never a skirt, never any suggestive ANYTHING... you are in no way in the wrong here, and now its time for legal advice to take this past the obvious smoke screen that your employer and his HR people are trying to pull over on you. Its an old and tired counter to your obvious upper hand here: they feel like only effective way to silence you is to plant the seed in your head that YOU are somehow at fault. FUCK THAT. its too obvious for words and it STINKS.

If you somehow perceive that you are at fault, you will not go any further in persuing your RIGHT to a safe and harassment free workplace, or compensation for their inablity or ignorance of the LAW. NO ONE may suggest to you EVER that you are to blame for some neandrafuck suggestion that you should show him your tits. This is not about sex, no asshole thinks that saying shit like that will ever get him any: he is threatened by you and uses the most effective tool little men have and that is attack that which hurts the most. Back to the 'legal' needs: you MUST see a lawyer to, at the very least, establish the correct and legal paper trail of this and past events, as well as to simply get a solid grip on your rights here. NO employer may EVER suggest that your physical attractiveness gives another employee the right to abuse you. SHIT! THEY AREN'T EVEN ALLOWED TO SAY THAT SHIT OUT LOUD! Saying that you are at fault and deserve abuse for being fit and beautiful is like saying that that Nigger gets what he deserves cause he's a darkie, or that retard in the wheelchair should mind his own, etc, etc... again, FUCK THAT! Racism, gender bias, etc. are ALL wrong, all of them have laws that specificly protect the worker. Can you IMAGINE the uproar if this Clitcock said to a black employee, 'Fetch that for me, Sambo.'?!?!? Same shit, diffent smell.

You have never broken a dress code, which to my understanding DOESNT EVEN EXIST at your company. The laws in most states are perfectly clear on this one: making a comment that your physicality, hot or fat or hunchbacked or wheelchaired or black or one eyed or WHATEVER is all the same and OFF limits. Period. You have some serious issues here on your side, and the fact that your employer made those obseRations in a meeting to discuss sexual harrassment issues is NUTS!!!! They just set themselves up for a fall, and if your lawyer is a shark, they're fucked this way to easter sunday.

get your facts on paper, get the dates and names and wording down now that its fresh, get it to your lawyer or whomever she recomends and stick up for yourself. You are very good people, Friskers, and deserve better than this atiquated crap.

I'm damn near positive if you can get it on record that he admited it to them, and you have at least one credible witness to back it up, you could kick their ass in court
