Hypothyroidism and AAS

Hi all,

New to these boards, and glad to be here. You all seem quite knowledgeable and fun, and I look forward to picking your brains in the coming months.

I'd like to know... is it insane for a female bodybuilder with hypothyroidism to consider using AAS? I'm trying to bone up on the physiology here and come to a conclusion, and I thought you all might be able to comment.

Thx --X

No, it's not insane at all. You just have to be aware that you may need thyroid meds for maintenance purposes. You may have to increase your dose if you take large doses of AAS, but most women don't face this sitch.

Thanks for the comment.

Just for a little background information, this person is a good friend of mine who recently told me that she wanted a little competitive edge. Being the fantastic friend that I am (and more than a little attracted to her, to be sure) I thought I'd do some research on my own to make sure she's being sensible. I'm an endurance athlete myself, 100-mile runs and ironman triathalons and the like (you gotta stick to what your body's built for, I guess), and I don't know a whole lot about AAS usage and women.

Incidentially, she already takes Synthroid as hormone replacement. Do you think that dosage will need to be adjusted if she starts using moderate AAS?

Thx again --X
