Hi guys
This is my first post on here, so go easy on me please... I have been reading the forum for months and I now have a basic level of knowledge of what's what (I hope...) and I have done my best to find out everything I need by reading what has already been posted.
However, I am in a bit of a rare position and so have not been able to find any direct discussions on what I should or should not do and I would really appreciate some feedback and hopefully pointers on what I should read to help me better understand my situation and starting my first cycle.
My background is that I am 31 years old, 5'10", 78-80kgs and have been training for around 12 years. I am around 8-10% body fat. Over the last couple of years I have stepped up my training and diet and now train 4-6 times a week and have a pretty strict diet, except for Saturday nights out (booze) and on Sundays having a bit of hangover food (pizza and some sweets/chocolate), but other than that, I eat about as clean as you can do with a full time job and some dedication (salad, veg and lean protein 3 times a day, 2x protein shakes per day, breakfast shake has oats, banana etc). I suspect you will tell me I need to eat more if I start cycling - I will do so!
Here is the interesting part..... About 18 months ago I was diagnosed with hypogonadotrophic hypogonadism, which if you are not aware, means that I do not produce much FSH or LH and so therefore my balls are not stimulated to produce much testosterone. I should point out that I have not always had this and I have blood tests from when I was around 21 and my testosterone levels were of mid to high levels for my age (I have the blood tests somewhere and I expect some of you may want to know the levels - if so, let me know and I will dig them out). At some point between then and now my production of FSH and LH dropped significantly (and I am almost certain that it started within the last 2 years, as I started to feel all of the known effects of low T - tiredness, moodniess, lethargy, lack of sex drive etc).
When I discovered I had low T due to low FSH/LH, I had T levels of less than 0.5ng/dL, which I understand to be the level of around an 80 year old man - obviously not what I want!
In order to get my T levels back to where they should be, the doctor started me on HCG injections and the results were immense. I have been on 300iu twice weekly (which I have upped to about 350-400iu twice weekly) and it was like a new lease of life. I had energy, sex drive, I wanted to go out and socialise again, have fun etc, not to mention the fact that my results from training improved a huge amount too. I could train harder, my gains increased and I burnt more fat. The last 18 months have been great. But now I want more.
Given the fact that my HPG axis is already messed up and there isn't anything I can do about it, it seems to me that I have less to worry about when it comes to doing a cycle and any long term side effects. I still produce a small amount of FSH and LH so I am going to make sure I do full PCT so as to protect that as much as I can, but given the fact that I now have to forever inject HCG in order to produce relevant levels of T anyway, it appears to me that I have relatively little to lose by trying out a few cycles.
I was thinking of doing var and test prop as my first cycle. I don't want to get absolutely massive - I would just like to make some good, hard lean muscle gains and cut some fat too. I would like to eventually get up to 85-90kgs with around 5-8% bf but am in no rush to do it and am happy to take a couple of years to get there. Given that this is my first cycle of anything, I thought this was a relatively "friendly" stack to start with. I don't fancy hitting tren or anything like that straight away (or at any point)!
As I said at the start, I would really appreciate any thoughts you guys have on whether I should be concerned about anything in particular due to my unique circumstances and if there is anything I have missed and should consider. Any reading you can point me in the direction of would be great, as well as any advice.
Oh - one final thing. As a side effect of being on HCG full time, I got horrible gyno (I had suffered from gyno a little bit in my late teens, so I was not surprised when it happened to me while I was on HCG, as I was warned by the doctor that this was possible). Because I knew I was going to have to take HCG forever, I had surgery to correct my gyno (let me know if anyone is interested in where - happy to share details. I did a huge amount of research prior to choosing a surgeon and I am very happy with the results) and so gyno is now pretty much a non-issue for me too. I think this is only going to be relevant for PCT and so perhaps could mean I don't need to be as strict with my PCT, but I would like to follow the best PCT protocol I can and make sure I do it right irrespective of the fact that I don't need to worry about gyno now.
So - there's my story and my questions. Any guidance would be much appreciated. Thanks!
