Huge motivation for me now

As I've been loosing weight, my tummy skin is really getting loose. It was not too hot before my last kid, but after my son was born it has been really bad. Yesterday at the beach I noticed that my skin just hangs there and I about wanted to cry. I'm doing all this work to get looking nice again and unfortnately, I can't fix the saggy skin. The more I lose the more it hangs.

So I sent my hubby an email (he's been out of town) and asked him if I could have the money for a tummy tuck on my birthday and that I'd put it in my sock drawer until I got lean enough and then schedule the surgery. To my surprise he said yes. My bday is in a couple of weeks and I've scheduled a consult with a well known doctor around here for May 1st. I'll probably have the surgery beginning of June or July. However long it takes for me to get this weight off and give the doc the best opportunity to get as much of the loose and stretchmarked skin off. I can't believe it, after I get lean, I can get my "old" tummy back and then work on putting my "old" muscle on. So, my goals have changed. Now I want to not lose any muscle, but lose fat as a primary goal. Then after I recover from the surgery, I'll focus on getting the muscle back on. I will have to change my work outs, more cardio and stop the GVT, but I am excited to make a plan for my new objective.

Hey, love, never been there, but I've been told that the skin all tightens up when you cut way down. Something worth asking others who have done the 'UP/DOWN' thing? Good vibes either way!

Wow! That's so cool for you!!!! I have a friend that has the same situation. Unfortunately, loose skin does not go away. I'm SO EXITED FOR YOU!!!!!

Thank you all for the enouragement, I am still really emtional about all this. My stomach has been the thing I've hidden for seven years. Even when I got lean last time I had to pick clothes carefully to hide the loose skin. The last blow came when I was on my stomach on the beach the other day and my daugter tried to step over me and stepped right on some loose skin on my side. Oh wow. The bruise I got from that doesn't even hurt next to the bruise on my ego. I guess that was what made my hubby say yes so quick, he new how bad that made me feel. I am not expecting a miracle, I am just excited to have the loose skin gone that makes me feel deformed.

I am thinking of trying a pre-contest type diet that a friend of mine from Tennessee uses when she competes in BB. Lost of chicken, green beans, egg whites, flax oil....ugh. Never done a pre-contest type diet since I've never competed but I am very focused now and giving up my oatmeal and brown rice seems a small thing to me now. The sooner this is off, the sooner I can have the surgery and get it behind me.

Congratulations! If you are looking for more info or someone to talk to try tuckthattummy.com, or liopsite.com. Best of luck to you.

I wouldn't cut those carbs out....just eat them before 2-3 pm and you should be fine. Low carbing it will make you feel run down and cranky - speaking from experience here! :)

Whatever you decide, although a stranger I may be, I completely support your decision if it will make you happy.

I haven't experienced the loose skin from babies, but I have plenty of loose skin from weight gain / loss and just plain old genetics. This was a big issue for my last competition. Especially when you start losing bodyfat quickly, your skin doesn't always tighten up right away, but it does come. I think a degree of loose skin can still be managed by keeping your diet going - often people will lose a pile of weight but then feel like their diet time is done but now they have all the loose skin. I'd say keep the diet going because now the micro-effects need to continue - as the macro effects seem to be have been achieved but you aren't quite totally done w/ what can be achieved w/ diet.

My biggest tools for loose skin -
- diet-wise - carb cycling is the most amazing tool in the kit. Never cut off your carbs, but cycle them to promote fat burnign & resupply just before you drop off into ketosis.
- YOHIMBURN! -- I slept in that stuff w/ a neoprene wrap on as well as during cardio for 4 months!
- interval cardio
