nope, i haven't read the book. but this is irrelevant to this discussion. it doesn't matter what the book says. a person cannot lose fat if they consume more calories than they expend - basic laws of thermodynamics.
what usually happens on this diet is that since fat makes a person feel more satiated and due to the low and steady levels on insulin (because of the lack of carbs), it also leads to a decrease in appetite. therefore, they naturally eat less.
as far as i know, the induction phase is 2 weeks. it is meant to let your body adjust to not eating carbs. whatever weight you lose in that period is mostly water. and like i already said, it is easier to feel full because of all the fat you are consuming.
