How much of this gain will be fat......

Going to go on my first bulk after dropping 30lbs. I am going to keep my foods clean (i.e. low glycemic carbs etc.) and plan on increasing my weight about 10 lbs a month for a total of 25 lbs. I will be using a 5x5 with 4 weight training sessions/week. I do not plan on doing cardio. I am curious as to opinions on how much of this 25 lb gain would be fat. Any suggestions are also welcomed on making this bulk more productive in terms of muscle gain.

a roguh estimate would be 10.89768475435987938475845463452343 lbs; once again that is a very crude figure we would need to run further analysis, perhaps replicate and revise current calculation algorythm to arrive at an even more precise conclusion :o

come back at a later time :martini:

10lbs a month? Unless you have REALLY special vitamins, that is likely to be a LOT of fat gain. I think juve's calcuation might be off by .00000000000000000000001 though.

Be patient. Unless your "vitamins" are from Turkey, you shouldn't try to gain that much in a month.

If your bulking naturally, shoot for maybe 1lb lean muscle a week. That's still a pretty good amount to gain naturally. Anything more than that will most likely be fat.
If this is the first time you've tried to gain muscle, you'll probably do really well. BUT....this is just a guess based on averages. everyone is different.

Thanks for all the replies. I made a mistake on my math on my first post and was thinking of more in the line of 5 lbs a month. Not sure if I want to try those "special vitamins" at this point in my life!

Then eat clean and make sure you get between 1.5 and 2 grams of protein per lb of lean body weight. Eat every 3 hours, and keep the majority of your carbs early in the day. Be thankful if you can gain 2 - 3 lbs of muscle a month without fat.
