say in a week?

we just went shopping for food to last us over the weekend and a bit of monday and racked up $70AUS worth of food, thats before milk and things that the rest of the house will eat aswell. so basically some steak, tuna, cottage cheese, egg whites, low fat bacon.. $70 worth.

how bout you people?

Do you get your meat from a butcher? We have saved so much money by doing this. In the US an inferior cut of meat in the supermarket is usually $5 a pound. At the butcher, especially if you order a lot you can get a better cut of meat, cleaned and with the fat cut off for $2-$3 a pound.

Gonelifting,

Thanks for the Karma. Make sure you talk to the butcher directly and shop around until you get the price you want!! We order $150 of meat a month. It's amazing what we get. Our freezer is completely stocked. Oh and our butcher has 99% lean beef. And buffalo! If you like beef but you're watching your fat intake, that's the way to go.

i buy four or 5 chicken breasts and a bulk pack of salmon. This lasts me a week. Rest of the protein comes from tins of tuna, salmon and pilchards. Whey protein and egg whites. I manage to get about 200g of protein a day this way :)

Use a butcher, flexygrl is right. Also my dad owns a ranch so I get about 20-30 ibs of beef for free a month, lucky me. Learn to shop in bulk and watch for sales and specials on the things you eat alot of, and stock up. Protien powders can be bought pretty cheap online. I use protein factory. Supps? Most vitamins and basics can be bought very cheap at wal-mart. Believe me bro, I'm a full-time student (217 @ 6-7% now, dieting down for a photo shoot), and have been over 250 during the off season. I eat ALOT, so I have to budget.

I was thinking of getting a seperate freezer just for that. Do you guys have a seperate one? where do you fit it all. The stuff I get now from coscto is filling up my side by side.
