ive used the 115's

relax..... i think we all pressed that at one point in our career....... your young......... your time will come if you will stick with it

pushed up the 90 pounders for 2 reps. Thats the best i've done so far. but i can rep out the 80's for 10 reps, go figure.

I have gone up to the 115s as well, I dont go below 5 reps on them. One dude I know STARTS with the 130s - ouch.

i was pushing up the 55's 2 years ago and thats without any gear. If i were to get on some juice, i could easily push up the 120's

ENRAGE

You've got to be joking dude.
You think if you get on juice you will throw up the 120's easily,
when you can only do 55's.
Its taken me years to be able to do that.
Nothing comes easily!!!

current working weight is 120 for 8-10 reps

max at 145 for 2 reps

My new gym doesn't have heavy dumbbels, but in the old hardcore gym i was working out, it's closed now:bawling: I used the 100's for 5 reps. They promised to get new dumbells in my new gym but I'm still waiting.:)

i think you misread my post. i was saying that 2 years ago i was struggling with the 55's. and now I'm pushing up the 90's for a max of 2 reps. I was just stating that because i've been doing it roid free compared to that guy who posted stating that he has gear and barely doing the 65's. Figure i could wait on getting gear till i maxed out my genetic potential. this is in no way a flame for people who use gear. Like i said i'm waiting till i think i could use it.

before i got on which was sept 7 i was pushing 40's for 6,so gear has helped, but i figure ill lose strength when i come off,i also havent been in the game aslong as some

LOL@ macd, yeah the dumbells I use have jane fonda's signature on them lol.

I use the 55's for about 2 times 6, I know, weak chest, but I do flat first. I am natural, 17. My chest is rather weak but surprisingly it looks decent.

1RM 35kg dumbells :(

i have a problem i can lift more with dumbels then with the bar on incline press. i do 4 sets of 10 with the 75lbs dumbells and can only do 4 sets of 135 with the bar. is it the same for some of you guys.

Is the angle of the benches the same?

My dumbells only go up to 150lbs...

During the height of my bulking phase I've done 150lb dumbells for 6 reps. The hardest part about the whole thing was getting those fuckers up to my chest. And then trying to balance them in the palm of my hands...

i just read this post and seriously....i think that when you press the 55's youre NOT ready for the sauce. thats just my point of view.

i disagree with you, strength means shit,im nto a powerlifter so i dont need to push crazy weights to grow

I agree to a point. Sure you don't have to be incline benching 150lb dumbells to be worthy. But I'd at least expect you to get to 90-100lbs before you think about juicing. You're selling yourself short if you do...

yep daeo, thats what I think too. but of course, the canadian oak has a point too. It just depends on your goals I guess. oh well!

I have to disagree, to grow you have to push yourself.
Unfortunatly strength does mean a lot. Maybe not now because your a little guy and not that strong. But down the road when you get a little bigger and stronger you'll see that the weight will keep increasing if your gonna keep making progress. Unless you just want to be a little ripped model looking guy then all you will have to do is maintain. I think like DAEO said once you get to where you using 100's and you bench moves up to around 315
then you ready to move to that next level with juice. Then theres no turning back and you want to keep getting bigger and stronger. It took me years to get where I'm at I dont plan on stopping anytime soon. Plan is to be hard at 280lbs doing reps on the bench with 455!!!!!!! 270 now and repping 350

I wonder why ;) After I get back from Vegas I'm going to plan on coming up to NY. Maybe in Dec. Planning on going down to Florida in Nov maybe. Hell if you have the time or means you can always come to Haddonfield. It's killer this time of year... :jack1: :jack2: :vanp: :chainsaw: :vampire:

Maybe the 45's...if I am very lucky.

B True

115's for 6-8...

When I was 19, I couldn't barely bench 135 and do the 45's... now that I'm 27... I can bench well over 300 (how much I don't know, haven't maxed)... and the 115's... If my body can stay together long enough, I hope to go a litthe higher. :)

i wonder why michael.........i still think jamie lee is super hot.........

Decemeber will be a good time, usually have some good parties that time of year........

I USALLY DO THE 60LBS DB'S FOR 12 REPS
85'S FOR 10 REPS
AND THEN THE 100'S FOR 8 REPS...
I NEVER GO OVER THE 100'S BECUSE THEN I HAVE NO CONTROL AND THAT COULD END YOUR WEIGHT TRAING PRETTY QUICK IF YOU SNAP A MUSCLE DUE TO NO WEIGHT CONTROL....:D

120'S FOR A FEW REPS DEPENDNG ON THE DAY AND HOW I FEEL-SOME DAYS ILL DO IT MORE REPS THAN OTHER DAYS-120 IS THE HEAVIEST I GOT IN THE GYM- I WEIGH ABOUT 166LBS.

alright guys, i was able to push up the 90lb db's up yesterday for 5 reps. A new PR for me, ain't to bad either considering I'm dieting down and in complete ketosis.

Congrats bro..

Angles??

I know this thread is about weight... but what about angles of incline?? 45? more? or less?

I'm doing a little steeper than 45 degrees because my upper chest is relatively weak.

I hit the 55's for 8-10 reps (3-4 sets). I'm a girl. And I'm not satisfied yet. What are u guys relatively weak or something:D

got up 80's the other week for 10. then I didn't sleep for a few days due to exams 50's were tough. i called it quits went home and slept for a good day and have taken a few days off from lifting(one rotation). I'll post what I do tonight.....

So far I'm all natural and use 100's, 3 sets of 10
I work out at the Y and they only go up to 110's- haven't used um yet. But listening to you guys using 150's and shit makes me wanna go up.

I was pushing 55's two weeks ago. I am pushing 75's now and going for 80's later today. Then again, my tris have shown amazing growth these past two and a half months and since I started gear... almost 25 more lbs. of muscle have been added. I am happier now.

:destroy:

im lifting 40KG's in total for 6 (not my max but close) ...so that equals about 80 pounds right?!?
btw/ on the vertical press machine i push 315 pounds x 6 --and thats not using the footrest's.

(the sad thing about it is that i have only be going to my school gym for 3-4 weeks and im already using the 2nd heavyist dumbbells --do you think a request for bigger dumbbells will get laughed at!?!)

How long did it take you to get to the 120s? That is very good btw. I can do the 70s but 120 sheesh. That's alot.

120's for 9 reps....piece of cake..130's next week

How long have you been lifting. See I have been lifting for 2 years and I am kind of older 37yrs old. So I am wondering I started when I was 35 is my progress ok doing the 70's(this is off cycle btw)? Or should I being doing more by now? And how long have you been lifting?

NEW PR!
Got the 100's up for 6 reps. Woohooo. But i think the Fina, Cyp and Winny had something to do with helping me out. Will get the 110's next Week.:D

Yeah those guys are good spotters, they should help motivate you.

I'm on my barbell routine for right now but I did one set with 90lbs dumbells for 10 the other day and found it wasn't too bad since I didn't do flat right before.

I'm a scrawny bastard, around 180lbs, so I don't lift much heavier then the 100lbers for reps. Sometimes, if I start out with inclines, I'll go a bit heavier, like up to 105 or 110, but thats about it. Maybe I'll try and do the 120lbers today.

ive been lifting off and on since high school. im 26 right now. if you have been lifting for 2 years 70 pounds is really good. just stick with it. i personaally have never did a cycle. i was off for 9 months due to a shoulder injury but this is my 2nd month back and im getting my strength back. good luck

Thanks dude I was wondering if I was doing ok for the legnth of time I have been hitting it. I can workout with more weight on the barbell(165) but I have a hard time getting those db into position for incline presses.

new pr - 110's for 8 last chest workout. gonna hit the 120's next week try and eek out 4-5. movin on up...I think I am actually almost as strong at the dumbbells as barbell. My record with barbell is 225 for 10. I just love the dumbbells though, feel them MUCH better

I'm with you...I feel stronger with DB....I can DB incline 95lbs for 8-10, but sometimes I struggle with 225 for 5 on Flat BB.....WTF??

Usually depends on current routine. on time under tension weeks, i am getting up to 55lbs for 1 min. on my work sets (3).
for heavy rep weeks, up to 90lbs for 6-8 reps on work sets (3).

I finally got the 110's up but i did have a problem getting them up and in position. i did manage to get 3 reps. :D

Max DB INCLINE PRESS

right now i am doing sets of 60-70-80-90 for my workout.
and yea... didnt start my gear yet.... soon.. next month i start it hard core

oh yea all 10 reps

*currently 210lb's and dropping..... (or trying to) and high bf%* but dont worry it will all work out in the end

Incline presses

I don't use dumbells for these, cause with long arms and more of a wide build than thick, it doenst feel stable enough for me, plus once i badly hurt my shoulder on dumbell chest work, but the past year I've made great gains on the Smith macine doing inclines- going form 135 for reps to 255 for a few and 295 for a single- and my pressing sucked for years.

My gym is gay and doesnt cater to our kind.
The biggest Dumbbells we have are 95's
So I can only use the bar.

335x2

Decline Hammer Press

540 1RM
450 x12 reps

Damn.. I am 25...weight 190.. 6'2" and do sets of 8-10 with 40lb DBs.. I can do 6-8 with 45s..

It really is hard for me to imagine pushing up 100s. I've been working out a year, natural of course.

Brian

I make a post then I have to go and change things.lol , Ok make that 315 for a single and 275 for 2 on the smith. I like that exercise a lot better- and safer than dumbells.

I can do the 120's 10 times, never tried anything higher, no need to when the whole gym stares at you already in awe.

100lbs is about all the more I can handle right now. But, hey you have to start some where. I started with 60lbs a few years ago.

bboutlaw

17, completely natural...5'8" a little over 180 and i did the 120's for 6, 125'sx4 and i think i can do the 125's for 5 now without much trouble(legit...i got pretty strong chest and delts, and i dont normally have a spotter around with DB's...i just go to failure and drop em)

Time to change the way you train! My girlfriend lifts heavier, one year of training, all natural. Not a diss, just trying to get you thinking about a better way.

Depends on the day (energy level) but usually anywhere from 115's-130's for good sets of 8 or more at a bodyweight of 200lbs..no juice either...not that there is anything wrong with that .

I'm not trying to piss anyone off but are you guys serious?
It's starting to make me wonder who I'm getting advise from!
I come from a really hard core power lifting gym and anyone lifting less than 140's is pretty unheard of ! I'm not expecting a metal but before I touched any gear i was throwing up 140's in less than 2yrs of training . Maybe it's just the environment I come from!

Look at your body weight, and look at the weight you are using.
You are 265lbs, but you are using 280lbs total (2 x 140lbs dumbbells) That is a strength ratio of 105%. You forget that we have several guys here who are at a much lighter weight such as 150, 160, or 170lbs, yet are very powerful working out with 100lb or 110lb dumbbells. Now look at the strength ratios:

bodyweight dbs ratio dbs ratio dbs ratio
150lbs 90lbs 120% 100's 133% 110lbs 146%
160lbs 90lbs 112% 100's 125% 110lbs 138%
170lbs 90lbs 105% 100's 117% 110lbs 129%

Now, what is more impressive. . . a guy at a lighter bodyweight who can use weights far above their bodyweight with a higher ratio or a guy at a heavy bodyweight who can barely work with more that his bodyweight? That is how powerlifting is based on ratios. I'll give you some advice. . . its "medal" not "metal" ;)
