How Many People Do You Know That Can Actually Squat Properly???

My workout partner comes over the other night to do legs. We put 315 on the bar and i decend to parallel or slightly below for 10 reps. He does 14 reps but his legs were at about 45 degrees. He is VERY cocky, so it did not come easy to him when I said his form was SHIT. After all, what are partners for.

I am venting simply because time and time again people sacrifice form for the sake of " EGO ". I took my sweats of and explained why my quads were far superior to his in both density and seperation. He was pissed but when we went down to for our last set he tried to go ass to the floor and could not get out 6 reps.

FORM, FORM, FORM!!!!!

I hate when a training partner is a weiner like that. Like 4 years ago I trained with a kid who was 50 lbs. lighter but refused to use any less weight than I was. I was doing bent-over rows with 225 and he was doing a modified "power-shrug" monstrosity with the same weight. I said that he should lower the weight and work on form. He puts on this cocky smile and says" Just because you're bigger than me, doesn't mean your stronger than me". We don't train anymore.

damn thats a bummer man. i got lucky and i train with a kid the same age as me (17) and we both help each other as much as we can. we both have excellent form now in both of our lifts because we can correct each other.

Thats refreshing Louden but not the norm, you are lucky. To me it is very distracting when those around me use shitty form.

when i see people sue shitty form i usually just laugh and then get really focused on my own form. Use those idiots for motivation

there's this kid at the gym whose like half my size but lifts heavier than me. the other day he came up to me and asked why he isn't seeing progress, and how i manage to have grown with solid muscle in the last 6 months.

so i showed him how to do a proper standing bicep curl with the barbell. he couldn't even complete 6 proper reps and there was NO WEIGHT ON THE BAR!!!!

FORM, FORM, FORM.

i'm a very solid 5'11, 190 8-10% and train with much lighter weight than dudes that are smaller than me.

INSTENSITY, INTENSITY, INTENSITY.

if you dont hurt than you're either not lifting heavy enough, or are a totall pussy.. its the last few reps that count. everything up to the last few dont count!

lift as heavy as you want, but if you still got 2-4 reps left in you but you stop then you ain't gonna grow! FACT!

NO PAIN NO MOTHAFUCKIN GAIN, BIAAAAAAAAAATCHHHH!!!!!!

even some bigger guys than me train improperly but what are you gonna do about it? they have bodies that would take me say year and a half maxto acheive. yet when i ask them how long they've been training consistently they say "5 years".

you can't change the world. just focus on yourself and the pain

Besides myself, I haven't seen more than two people that squat like they should. I did see two dooshbags squatting in the rack with 315 on the bar and getting all of about 3" rom. Hell, I may not be huge, but my form is good (which is why I get at most 225).

I haven't even seen but 1 other guy who does deads and 1 who does sumo deads. But everyone and their grandma can do dumbell curls in front of the mirror.

Suckers

I don't believe you need to go ass to the floor to be doing squats right. Most people, when they squat really low, tend to make it 2 movements, one they reaise there hips up( Putting the back in a bad position) and then 2 rising up with the shoulders.
I squat to about 2-3 inches from paralell, but I am 6'3" and dropping too much lower is impractical, as it is I probably have a greater range of motion , then 98% of you reading this.
