Hun,

In all honesty, this is really something you should KNOW inside and out before you take steroids.

NUTRITION is the essential part of bodybuilding, NOT GEAR.

You are going to have to do some research and calculations to figure out what works for you.

If you have ever seen the pre-comp bible, you will find that there is a HUGE difference in how each pro gets ready for a comp, and obviously it works for all of them.

You need to decide what percentage of your diet is each macronutrient, a good ratio is 40% protein 40% carbs and 20% fat for a starter, some people like 50% protein, 30% carbs, 20% fat..............you can adjust this later when you see how many grams of each are in your diet plan.

So for example if you want to eat 2000 kcals per day (I AM JUST PICKING THIS NUMBER FOR EASE OF CALCULATION) with the 40% protein, 40% carbs and 20% fat ratio:

800 kcals will come from protein

800 kcals will come from carbs

400 kcals will come from fat.

1 g protein/carbs = 4 kcals

1 g fat = 9 kcals

so 800 kcals / 4 kcals/g = 200 g of protein and carbs

400 kcals / 9 kcals/g = 44 g of fat

THIS IS JUST AN EXAMPLE, check out the BMR (basal metabolic rate formulas in the thread)
There are some of the basic forumulas in this thread

I grow on 50 grams or less.
I rely on quality fats to build and repair my muscle.
Carbs just give me energy for the workout.

Interesting.
Is this true even when bulking up?
I've been thinking about taking this approach, cutting back on the carbs and throwing in extra fats for cals.

As bodybuilders we take in such low amounts of fat that this is something I have been considering as well. Very interested in this thread.

I agree.
The main reason I'm considering it is I have such a low appetitie and it would be easier for me to get my necessary cals in by eating almonds, ANPB, peanuts, olive oil than it would be w/ my usual carb source of oats.

It works for me to. The workouts were a struggle at first but my body got used to it and now its like I am on 500gr of carbs a day. I will go high on carbs every 5th or 6th day to not let my metabolism shut down.

interesting.......keep the carbs low while eating quality fats.....

so a perfect food for this would by nuts right???? high quality fats with low carbs....

heres a sample of my diet(cutting)

meal 1---1/2 cup oats with 1/4 cup of raisins mixed in with 1/3 cup skim milk, 45 grams of whey mixed with water

meal 2---some greens, usually spring mix with very light honey mustard dressing, 1 oz nuts, 1 piece of chicken breast

pre workout meal----1 cup frosted shredded wheat or oatmeal for energy

TRAIN

post workout meal---usually just a protein shake which equals 60 or so grams of protein and 50 grams of carbs from fruit in the shake..

meal 5---cottage cheese with some whey protein, chicken breast or steak

meal 6---almonds with some cottage cheese, EGG protein 25 grams before bed

at least 1 gallon of water per day

Nattty PB is great. Stay away from the trans fat shit.

I personally stay away from cottage cheese (most milk products) depending on the fat% or brand it could end up with more grams of sugar than protein, that is if you try to follow low carb. But I got a friend who takes in about 600 grams even when cutting and it works for him. So much is dependent on body type. I am an endo/ecto and can put weight on all day long without much effort.
