Another similar diet that is calorie based is easier. Its essentially the same idea except you cycle 3 days of 7 cal per lb, at 181 lbs for me thats 1296 a day, then go to 16 cal per lb or about 3000 cal per day for 2 days, then back to 1296 for another 3 and so on. This took about 30 lbs off of me, or about 17% body fat from 27% down to 10%. It took about 4 months from start to finish however I had no where near the muscle I have now to start with.
Now that I have all this extra muscle I would assume that beginning the diet once again after the recent holidays and gaining 2%, I should lose the rest and get down to 8% a little easier, hopefully. I'd love to lose the last of this small "pooch" I've got left on my gut.
This diet is a lot easier than CKD at least for me because it doesn't really involve eliminating too many foods that I like, and I get to pig out like normal for 2 out of every 5 days. Keeps you going and allows you to take your gf out to dinner more often.
I've been told the reason this works is because after about 3 days of low cal/fat diet your body goes into starvation mode and begins to preserve the fat only after having burned it excessively for 3 days, you "reset" it by eating 500 more than what you would eat to just mantain.
Another reason this is easy is that it doesn't involve as much meal planning and cooking, and plus there's a whole lot more low cal/fat foods out there. But then again what works great for me may not work great for others. Try to keep the protein just as high (1.2 g) per lb while doing this though.
But if you're insane and want to go hardcore do the CKD, it works but man that made me very naucious after about 12 days of that.
