How does morning Cardio work when bulking?

How does morning cardio work when your in a calorie surplus stage? When I'm trying to bulk up and gain lean muscle will it help? Will it burn off a little extra fat that I might be gaining from the bulk if I do morning cardio on an empty stomach 2 days a week? Or will it just make it harder for me to gain Lean Mass because I will be spending excess calories on the AM cardio sessions.

My question really is will morning cardio help make my gains more lean (and lean me out while bulking)

OR

will it just make it harder to gain MASS because I have to eat extra calories?

Yes it will, the key is to do it at least 10 hours from your last meal in the morning after first waking up,the body has no choice but to dip into fat to burn fuel- need a boost to go with it, get some lipostim, makes cardio a breeze.

I agree with Radar. If you do it first thing, before eating, you will get max fat burn, which will help prevent muscle burn. Also you didnt say what you would do for cardio. I would NOT run. Anything else - jump rope, stair stepper, treadmill, should all be good.

i thought that it takes away from muscle gaining if you have a low BF% and are already strong.... please correct me if i am wrong. Also, since he's bulking, will doing this before he eats be optimal? Yes, it will allow for him to eat more because he'll be hungrier, but wouldn't it be more beneficial (when bulking) to eat a meal before running so you'll be hungrier later after you run, allowing you to eat more?

He didnt say if his BF % is high or low but I assume it is higher than he wants it to be or he wldnt be considering the cardio.

Also I said do NOT run - IMO it is too fast a burn. Have you ever seen a runner who is jacked up? I havent. I have seen lean runners but never one that has good muscle mass.

If he does his cardio before he eats, he will be burning only stored fat. If he eats first, then he is going to be burning off calories that he just ate first.

When putting on mass - you cant wait until you are hungry to eat. You have to eat every two hours whether you are hungry or not. Matter of fact, old school argument was that if you were starting to feel hungry before you ate, it was already too late.

IMO, to a certain extent, everything each individual does in the gym needs to be tweaked to that persons goals. He may do cardio twice a week and it works. I do what I consider a maintenance level of cardio for 15 minutes or so 5-6 days a week to keep the look that I have. But I've been trainiing for many years, and at 273 lbs, have already piled a lot of mass on.

Training is about learning how your body responds, and when you see the results you want, doing more of what got them.
