How do you pronounce the food Gyro?

I always thought it was pronounced "hero"

just walk up to him all casual, stealthily inch your way to his side, lean in close to his ear, blink very slowly, and in your most breathy voice whisper "let me be your hero."

You can tell me either phonetically or through interpretive dance. You're welcome.

First of all, there's an "s" on the end -- it's "gyros."

Anglo-Americans are incapable of contorting their mouths in the right way to properly pronounce the Greek letter gamma, so the closest we can get is "YEE-ros."

Uh, while pointing I'll take one of those.

That's what I do in Greek restuarants. :p :p

I might have trouble pronouncing the names of Greek food, but I don't have any trouble eating it. ;)

Do what I do -- mosey on in and start yelling at the guy behind the counter, "You fucking piece of shit I should kick the fuck outta you right now for what you did to my sister!" Then say Yee-rdo

actually what we call "Hero" is just derived from Gyro, i greeks that even differ on the pronunciation, but i believe they call it "hero", althoug i like like to call it J-eye-Row
