HIIT Training and Bulking?

Big_Nims

New member
Just curious, can you bulk while doing HIIT training? It would seem to me that it would be better utilized while cutting?

HIIT rules.

That being said, it's a great way to burn calories, which is why people use it while cutting.

Now if you're willing to eat to make up for those lost calories, doing HIIT has been shown to increase free testosterone levels, which should be at least somewhat helpful while bulking. So if you can handle eating boatloads plus a bit more to make up for your HIIT training sessions, you'll probably grow just fine and increase your conditioning as well.

I find hit best to maintain weight and lose bf, so essentially you are gaining some muscle but not as much as bulking. it is hard to gain a lot of weight while doing hit though

fir some reason, i appear to be getting leaner, but the scale isnt moving??? Im doing HIIT about 45 min 6 days and 1.5 hours 4 days a week of lifting.

Oh and the question is just a joke, but it is true, im losing some bodyfat and the scale isnt moving.

From what I've read and what seems to make sense is to use it more as a cutting exercise tool. If your bulking and trying to get bigger and stronger stick with deads and squats on a 5x5 routine or something similar. When doing HIIT 2 or 3 times a week I don't think many people could also keep up much of a leg routine off the track. The beauty of HIIT for cardio is that it acts as a substitute for your normal leg routine. It gives you the sprints which give you the testosterone and GH, but it also increase fat burning like crazy.

How can you do HIIT cardio for 45min a session

I did 16 mins today and was dead

No shit.. Isn't HIIT supposed to be 30 seconds jog, 30 seconds sprint, 30 jog, etc. --no rest...

I'm dead tired after just 4 minutes.

Andymac, how much slower is your sprint pace when you do it for 16 minutes?
