I´m posting from a cybercafe as I don´t get a cable hookup in my new room
till friday.

I moved from Goeree-Overflakkee in Holland to Leuven in Flanders, Belgium to study medicine in the University here.

I have been here since wednesday and so far I have mostly been settling things like getting a Belgian mobile phone account, getting a cable hookup, getting an ID pass, getting a bike and signing up for stuff.

Leuven is an ancient Catholic academic city and while it´s small there are about 50 k students here.

It´s very quiet here though. The courses don´t start till sept 28th so most students are still on holiday or at their parents house or whatever.
There are many student´s bars and they are as of now either next to empty or closed. So I don´t have much to do. I made a few friends though and they have a party tomorrow night so I´m going and hopefully meeting some more people. I moved here this early because in Holland the Uni´s open at sept 1st so all my friends already left my hometown anyway.

This place is very international. There´s people from all over the world including many from the USA. Maybe some of you have been or know someone.

Somebody tell me something purposeful to do until then.

There is a Uni gym but it does not open until october 4 and I have been told it´s very overcrowded because they made it so cheap.

So I got a membership in a private gym and while it´s far too happy and clean for my liking, they have weights and dumbs and a rack so I´m ok.

I find them expensive though. They´re the cheapest in town. I guess I never appreciated how lucky I was with my old gym. I´m also more aware of money now that nI do my own finances.

Very poorly, only a very little bit. This part of Belgium is predominantly Dutch speaking though. Given that´s Dutch with a thick accent. I´m already getting infected with it. My gf made fun of me on the phone

All the courses in uni here are in Dutch
