Help with a burn or scar.

Hello, I`m posting here because this could be a skin treatment question that the ladies might know about, and those asses on the chat board will just make fun.

If someone had a burn on thier neck about 3-4 inches high and 1 inch wide, What can you do other than go the the doctor or something for it? I heard toothpaste rubbed on it might help.

Is there any home remedies that would work? It puffed up and sorta bubbled with stuff inside and all around it is really red.

There`s small stuff on the chin and ear too, but that`s no big deal. Has anyone heard of the toothpaste thing?

toothpaste works for acne. It draws fluid out of the pores which is the opposite of what you want.

Burns and scars work well with 10% Benzenoic Acid.....which you can buy a tube for like $5 at Rite Aid or any pharmacy.

Keep the area covered with a huge bandaid....and keep the band aid on while taking a shower. In fact....stay in the shower a little longer. Kind of like when your fingers get all wrinkly......you want the same thing to happen on the burned area.

The more mushy and moist you keep the area...the softer the skin will stay and the less it will scar.

This works for stitches and surgical scars too.

How old is the scar? You could always consult a plastic surgeon and consider scar revision.

gotmilk...great advice!

I know that the gel from an Aloe Vera plant is very helpful for new, open wounds and burns. You cut off a leaf and cut the skin off. This leaves the gel-like slab of the plant left...it stinks, but works wonders for preventing scarring from occurring.

All the older Hawaiians in my family swear by it!
