Help! Tennis Elbow

Griz1

New member
O.k. a friend of mine has tennis elbow. He wants it to heal as fast as possible (who doesn't right?). He was wondering if there was anything that he could take that may assist in the healing process (e.g. Glucosamine Sulfate, anti-inflamatories, suppositories, whatever).

Any ideas on a supplement/vitamin/substance that may assist in the healing process (other than obvious inactivity stuff)????

Help would be appreciated.

cheers

What has he tried so far?

How long has this been a problem?

Severe pain?

What bothers it?

I have the same thing with my knee though. I take anti-inflammatory and it has made a world of difference. The stuff i take is called bextra. Tell him to o to and orthopedic specialist and they will hook him up.

Yep, Bextra is the one anti-inflamatory that I have seen results from.

anti inflammatories will not help with healing per say, just reduce any excess inflammation and let him deal with the pain

the best treatment is rest.....most of the time its because the muscle group has got too powerfuland wants to tear itself away from the lateral epicondicyle...(the little bony bump on your elbow it attaches to)

glucosamine might help...and may go some way to regenrating the area..however 'tennis elbow' tends to be manifested or exacerbated by repetitive movements, so avoiding them would be the best thing, strengthening may help but he's never gonna completely get over the anatomical problems with that particular muscle and tendon IMHO

ANother thing you could do is where that cuff that wraps around below your elbow. It make a new insertion for the forearm extensors and alleviates the pain. Some deep tissue massage in the area will also help, But you really need to leave it alone for it to heal.

yeah they make a tennis elbow braclet that helps out a lot. ALso ice the elbow for 20 minutes after every workout. But ultimately the only way to get rid of it is to rest. But it will come back again. I am actually a college tennis player so I have had my fair share. ANti-inflatories like mineral ice work well for temporary relief.
