Heat from family

New member
After it was all said and done, my family members started questioning me. big time. "were you on steroids?" "your going to die if you were taking steroids". My brother in law came over the other night and told me that i got too big too quick and it was pretty obvious that i was juicing. He then spent an hour lecturing me about how stupid i was for doing it and that i was going to seriously regret it (the whole time drunk as a skunk and popping 10mg vicodins, fucking hypocrite). On top of it he threw in there that i was being selfish and not thinking about my kids and wife because i could die anytime. I just bit my tongue and kept thinking to myself that he is just uneducated and doesnt know anything about it. But you know when someone is throwing it right in your face you start to think about it and get down. I was planning my second run in may and now im really trying to get over what he said. I know that running my first cycle was textbook perfect and i benefited ten fold from it on every level!! best experience i have ever had physiologically. But damn my family is telling me im a cheater and that im goign to get cancer and die when im 40. Sorry just on a bad trip today and had to vent to my bros out there. Need some support.

Tell him/they to mind their own buisiness and that you are on no-xplode, what do they know

Unfortunately, you can't change ignorance. You're a grown man, so it is your choice as to what you do in life. Your view is what should matter, not what everyone else things you should do.

The reality is that you will never be able to change them, so all you can do is either keep going or quit and give into the ignorance.

Good luck with whichever way you go.

good luck bro. so hard for people to understand when they are ignorant to the subject. it's esp hard when they see commercials of a statue of a guy and the statue crumbles and says steroids destroy people. there is a big war against them in the media. they are just trying to look out for and do what's best in there opinion. if your wife knows and is educated about aas and doesnt bother her that you're on, then it doesnt matter.

or, you can just go thru your daily routine and tell them how hard you've worked and tell them you were taking no2 and some creatine. if they aren't involved in working out or supps, they will have no idea. you can also say you were using prohormones. for some reason ppl don't care about these bc they are legal. i agree with what you said about your bro in law. its like ppl give me shit for smoking pot, but drink all the time. imo drinking is so much worse for you. besides, you can die from an overdose smoking.

Don't bother arguing with them - some people have biases and there is nothing you can do about it. Lying and saying you are all-natural is the easiest thing. Admitting you use could cause more problems.

On another respect their opinions (even if it is misguided). They are family - and they do care.

When I was young I decided to enter the military - that caused an uproar in my family. I knew they loved me and they thought they knew what was best for me. In the end I was right and it was the best decision I ever made. I'd be stuck in a po-dunk town in Iowa if I never left. (No offence to anyone in a po-dunk town in Iowa lol)

Hang in there!

Lots of threads about this recently. Lot to think about.

I tend to agree with jmt24. Walk them through how hard it is to diet and get your ass in the gym night after night. The cardio, the lifting, the supplements, lack of partying. Tell him he couldn't do what you do for 1 day, it had nothing to do with steroids. Flip it around on him.

Good luck bro.

she knows about it, supports me and my decision and is absolutly happy that im happy.

then u have nothing to worry about bro. i know you want to make your fam happy, so id talk to them about how pissed you get when ppl suggest that and walk them thru what you do. im sure you know enough about nutrition and supps that you will be able to convince them.

oh its not going to change my decision. I stand firm with my decisions. Im just saying it gets difficult when people throw it in your face. Kinda gets me down bro.

they know this already, im 100% dedicated. Im shocked that they said anything to begin with. I have been on creatine and gained a few pounds of water. guess that test i had was some good stuff..LOL

Your wife's opinion is really the only one you should be worried about. As long as shes not threatening to leave you (which she isn't), theres really no problem. As much as it sucks lying to family, I would just tell them whatever they want to hear. If you've already admitted to using, which it kind of sounds like you have, tell them they're right and that your going to stop. Your not gonna change their minds about the subject, so don't bother trying. And make sure when you see your family from now on that your wearing some baggy clothes. Good luck bro.

LOL that is great, maybe i should. I just told my bro in law about it but nobody else, says he wont say anything but that isnt guaranteed.

First off, sounds like you have a very good wife. I do agree with most of the post about this issue, but I would like to offer my opinion on the subject. I think "ignorance" is a strong word to describe the family part of the issue. Sure they don’t know what we know about steroids, but they are correct in my opinion, they aren’t good for you. We just do what we can with other supplements to counter act the sides and long term issues. I know the brother-in-law is still there popping pills and drinking, but he is there. So that does mean he cares and it seems as though the rest of your family does too. However, I do believe that if your wife knows and is fine with it, you are good to go. I think that all of us should have someone close to us that knows. I say this just in the worst case scenario, in the event something went wrong.

Again, this is just my opinion..... Don’t flame me for saying steroids are bad.. I take them, and I know they are good for me, but like I said.. we do what we can by learning and taking supplements to help us over come the sides to try and take them in the safest manner possible.

Excellent advice. In life we can choose our friends-but we can't choose our families. In laws are a whole different deal-you can choose your wife, and a lot of times her relatives don't reveal their true colors until you're already married.

As far as blood relatives are concerned, it's your choice to deal with it or not. Personally I'd tell them to get off my ass or I wasn't gonna hang with them anymore. Life is tough enough w/o your relatives putting your nuts in a vice over your lifestyle choices.

As far as in laws go, it's up to your wife to tell them to leave you the fuck alone. If this is more trouble than it's worth, than you might have to grin and bare it. Just don't fuel the fire by wearing a string tank top when they come around. Avoid the topic and if it keeps coming up, flip it on them and ask them why they're so concerned about your lifestyle choices because you don't criticize them for theirs. At this point you've gotta wonder if they're genuinely concerned about your health, or if they're just jealous of your discipline because you're obviously getting visible results. Yeah, maybe you're cheating in their eyes, but they can't deny your progress.

If you really wanna fuck with them, tell them that steroids, RX drugs(Prozac, cialis, Vicoden), Recreational Drugs, Alcohol, Tobacco, Coffee/Caffeine, Sex, Porn, Gambling, Shopping, The Internet, Working Out, Food, and even Religion-it's all dope!!! Overindulgence in any of these things can lead to problems. So unless they don't do any of these things themselves to excess(which is a matter of opinion) they have no right to be pointing their self righteous fingers at anyone. If legality of roid use is an issue, tell them that you don't allow the government to dictate to you how you're allowed to kill yourself. If the government really cared about our health Dr.'s wouldn't be constantly over-prescribing RX meds. Alcohol and tobacco would be illegal-fast food/sugar soda would be illegal too!!! I just love how it's socially acceptable to be on Prozac, yet if you smoke weed you're a loser. At least w/ weed you are still you. IMNSHO Prozac turns you into someone else-and the withdrawals can lead to deep depression/suicide. Nobody kills themselves when they run out of weed. Sheesh!

Now go to the gym and train you cheater!!! Also, make sure you never drive w/ any passengers cuz that impending heart attack or stroke could come at any time-possibly causing you to go into the oncoming lane, head on into a semi. Also, put the dialysis clinic on speed dial-you can't be too safe you walking RX garbage can. :p

It probably won't do any good, but you could try showing them this video clip:

http://www.steroidlaw.com/images/steroids_0002.wmv

It's from Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel, so that lends some credence to the whole issue & has some interesting perspectives from some doctors but it pretty much debunks the usual myths surrounding steroid use.

Good luck!

This is great advice-unfortunately for every unbiased report on AS they've probably seen a couple hundred negative uninformed ones that feed the do roids and die media hype. They'll likely just think you're a drug addict justifying his addiction. It's not like they wanna hear that roids are safe. Then they wouldn't have anything to criticize you for.

The root of all of this likely stems from them hating on you for your mental discipline to workout and diet. Accusing you of being on roids makes them feel better about themselves cuz they don't possess the iron will that you do. People suck.

well my bro in law says im a cheater and how does it feel to cheat my way into a good body? i started to laugh because this was flat out ignorant. I still have to work hard, i still have to diet hard, i think it was finially an excuse to let me have it. Jelousy. Me and him go to the gym every once in a while and he is 240 with a beer belly and cant lift anything, i get in there and he just watches in awe at me. 50 pounds lighter and can lift twice as much. The cycle did change me, but not enough to justify me as a cheater. He saw my dedication prior for years and just wanted a reason to come down on me because he doesnt have the decipline to stay in there. hell he smokes a cig before we go in and tells me it give him a rush to lift. Come on now. That is just plain dumb.

Tell him to take a flying fuck through a rolling doughnut. I swear, guys are worse than bitches sometimes. He sounds like one of those guys that like to compare penis size with the guy at the urinal next to him. If his dick is bigger, he has a great day. If not, he's depressed. That's a fucked up way to live. It almost makes me feel sorry for him-almost. People need to worry more about themselves and what makes them happy instead of drudging up other peeps shit.

Tell him the leading causes of death in america are heart disease caused by being over weight and lung cancer caused by smoking, then ask him who is cheating there family out of a husband? People hate to see others get ahead, it makes them feel bad about themselves. The only way they can feel better is to tear other down. Human nature is a bitch

Cheater ? What competition is this that you're cheating at anyway ? Truth is these drugs allow us to achieve results that we might not have naturally. And the whole time there's a group of people scared to death of them, yet so envious of thier effects that they can't help but critisize you for using.

P.S. No matter how sure he thought you were "on" or heart to heart the conversation was you still shouldnt have told your bro in law. Trust is a motherfarker, I know. :)

My wife supports me as well , as long as I don't hurt myself :) You should have shut your brother down right when he started lecturing you when he's sitting there popping vicodins and drinking! I would have told him to get the f out and come back when he's sober. Most people are ignorant, but when it comes to your family, ignorance comes first but then the love for you kicks in. They do love you and care about you, it's just that they are concerned.. no biggy..

you leave your mom and dad to cleave to your wife :) Hold your head up high, as you tap the air bubbles out, and inject MO-FO! Time to get it on!

you should have told him "how can you compare someone that wants a better body and needs a little help to someone who drinks constantly and pops pills." I bet that would have shut him up. That happened to me with one of my "know it all" cousins. He knew the complete opposite about AAS. haha kinda funny actually. He lives a few cities away so i only get to see him every so often (thank god) but last time he came down he got a little bigger. So like the smart ass i am, i accused him of taking steroids. Turns out he got on a cycle. How fucking lame is that?

Creatine and N Large baby!

Seriously, how big did you get to have this tool call you out and make a big stink about it?

I gained 30 lbs in a year, and sure people notice I am bigger, but like you they also know how hard I work to stay in competitive playing shape.

So, unless you are oiling up and flexing in your trunks in front of the in-laws during Sunday dinner, they really should have no fucking idea...

Unless of course, your wife is telling her family all about it. (No accusations against your wife, just food for thought.)

No, i knew this was going to be my first cycle so i waited until october to start so i could wear baggy clothes and stuff, our family is really tight and we eat dinner every sunday, you know the routine. I always wore XL shirts so i wouldnt stick out like a sore thumb, 30 pounds later my bro in law said it was all in my face, he said my face got real puffy and fat and that is what everyone noticed. Creatine also makes me retain water but NOTHING like test does. this next cycle maybe i should take something for the bloat? i dont really mind the bloat though. My wife wouldnt play me like that, we are so tight she wouldnt say a thing. Next run will be in the spring in may, I wont have the luxury of hiding it with clothes.

moonface!

hahahahaha

take an anti-e the entire length of your next cycle.

play around within the recommended dosages to find your sweet spot.

I bet if you offered to play Dr, Personal Trainer, and Nutritionist for your bro in law he'd get on the stuff himself.

Ruin your life??? LOL "Dude, I need some A50 baaaaad-I'll suck your dick" <crackhead voice>

I'm sorry to hear that such thing is happening to you. I am so fortunate for having a Wife that knows what I do and how I do it. I worked around the steroid use with mt wife, who is a well educated woman and willing to learn. We've built our marriage through the trust in each other, and I talked to her and informed her what roids are and all the good and bad things involving steroids. Obviously, we have planned ahead and both made sure that our son gets covered in case something happen to any of us.
You wanna do it safely? Get yourself a life insurance or do something and make sure that at least your kids get covered in case something happens to you. Roids or not you never know when you life is goona end.

I don't know what your in-law or your parents do or not do, but as long as you're doing this responsibly you should be ok no matter what the world says. Keep that chin up man, and you know, we are all going to die one day, and it's likely that it'll be from cancer....so one way or the other we are all f***ed up!!!! So u just might wanna be a big mofo!!!LOL

hey man dont let him make you feel bad for your gear use. From what you said it sounds like he has secretley resented you because of your progress. He is just going to use your gear use as an excuse to not feel bad about his ____ty body. Don't let it get to you, you have worked very hard and the gear only helped, it didn't make your progress happen. He is probably thinking "that's why he has always done better than me, it was the gear, only the grear" It pisses me off when people get like that, i can feel my blood boiling and I don't even know you. Bottom line is, don't let his bull___t lectures get the best of you, be happy with your progress.

Thanks everyone!! that is why i make this my second home. This board and the great people on here make it one of the best boards on the net today!! I plan on trucking along for myself despite what outside influences are in my way. I appreciate their concern but as long as they are unwilling to educate themselfs and understand the more they will just oppose what i do, i can deal with that. It is a necessary evil that comes with being envied. People will make excuses and call you names, kick you down when your up, but with everything there is an opposition. Im just getting used to it is all. Thanks again everyone, it means a ton!!
