Since I added 2 consecutive days of rest in my training once a week, my strength and power have just been getting better and better. I made this change some 6 weeks ago, and I'm really feeling the benefits now!
one day isn't just enough to fully recharge the batteries IMO.
now I workout like this -
day1 - lower body+ oly lifts + abs + lower back + pulls
day2 - upperbody - dips/bench, rows
day3 - rest
day4 - lower body + oly lifts + abs + lower back + pulls/deadlifts
day5 - upper - chins, presses, more rows, shrugs
day6 - rest
day7- rest
each bodypart gets hit twice a week, usually with diffferent exercises however. My traps get hit 4 times a week though
I ussally feel pretty bombed out after lower body day - high volume, but the upper body day the next day acts like an active recovery for me, I feel fresh after the workout - strange
I don't get sore all that much now - which is cool to me.
