Has anyone ever had ELK?

Hi everyone. I just had an Elk burger today and it was great! It comes from farm raised Elk and it tastes like a very lean hamburger! Anyway, it has great nutritional value:

Per 3.5 ounce serving (precooked):

Protein: 33 grams

Fat: only 6 grams

Carbs: 0

Calories: 207

If you get the chance, try Elk. It is very lean, tender, and not wild tasting at all! Sounds like I found a good potein source for myself!

I grew up on the stuff. Raised in Eastern Oregon where all there is to do is hunt and fish. I like to bbq it. well heck i like bbq'd anything :D

It doesn't seem to have much of a freezer lifespan though so over the year the animal you harvested will taste progressively worse.

My dad won an elk tag in Arkansas. Which was extremely lucky. Elk meat is awesome. I wish I could eat elk all the time. I am a big fan of the wild game (deer, elk, rabbit, etc). It has a great nutritional profile. I feel sorry for anyone who has never eaten wild game before, they are missing out on quality food.

Yup.....BUT, I think buffalo and ostrich are both better on the grill...all three are smooth though....and very lean.....why would I continue to mound chicken breasts and egg whites when I can have Biffalo, sotrich and elk???? hahah...price I guess......if you haven't had.....get to the store.
