hard time building quads

i can't seem to bulk up my quads no matter what i do. i hit them hard every 5 days but they don't seem to want to grow. i usually inject in the glutes or delts, so would it help if i actually jabbed the quads? i understand that you need to poke them on the outside upper right quadrant with a 1inch pin (right before training). has this worked for anyone? i also understand that the quad will be sore for the following week.

A close mate of mine found injecting in the quads did actually add size and had to stop because of it.

What does your quad routine look like?

i start off with 8-10 sets of leg extensions, starting off with one leg at a time at a lower weight moving up to both legs with the entire stack. they are pumped and sore after i get through with this. i will then either move to the leg press or to squats, depending on how i feel and which is free. the leg extensions kinda pre-exhaust my legs so i can't do too heavy weight on squats. i do about 5-8 set of squats/presses. i usually move on to hams and calves after that. advice?

Presuming your diet is all in check, as this would be probably be the most important in the equation, it may be your training. If I was in this situation i would ask myself the following;

Do you use this exact routine every workout?

Do you shock your muscles once in a while? Are your muscles bored and have got used to this routine?

Do you think you may be overtraining/undertraining? Are you resting them enough post workout?

Check out the weight training forum at some recommended leg routines. I could give you my routines etc but everyone is different.

Calories and squats

Yep!!!

If you want to get big you got to lift big. Dicking around with leg extensions will NOT build big legs.

Heavy deep squats will. Do the 5x5 routine for 6 months...you will grow I promise.

Injecting your Quads is not going to make them bigger. The Key to building bigger Quads is Proper form when working your legs. Squats are the best for building mass and when you do them if your knees are not bad you need to squat all the way down to the floor and use good form. None of that bitch ass half squatting shit with the bar all full of plates. Any body can do that easy ass shit go down to the floor with good form and you will see a difference. And the same for your leg presses a full range of motion none of that loading the rack with 22 plates and only going down a fourth of the way
thinking your doing something every body can do that shit also.

If you want legs all you need to do is squat.
Squat below parrellel EVERY time.
I have degenerative disk disease in my lower back. I was told never to squat again. I have had two knee surgeries. I have broken my leg and both my ankles. I have torn all my ligament in one ankle. Yet, I still squat. I just do quality reps with 135 and 185. Always in the hole. My legs grow.
Leg presses and extensions do not make my legs grow!

The squat is the answer! Make sure they are good squats. Don't do what 3 Dicks in ym gym do. They are your typical Beach Boys who are big into style and little into heavy lifting. They squat with awful technique and never come near to paraellel never mind squats. They keep increasing the weight and each time slapping one another on the back going "Good squat, Man". One of these days I'm going to go over to them and say "BACK OFF GIRLS - I'LL SHOW YOU HOW TO SQUAT!!!

Jabbing the quads may help, try it and see. I think you need to invert your routine. Extensions last, they are a polishing and ripping, striating move, and hold the contraction/extension for a slow count. Watch the vascularity improve and see if you can walk, 4 set minimum, 5-10 reps, sometimes just work down the whole stack plate by plate with 30 sec rest until you can do 10 rep's, that's a blaster, and remember this will be your last quad exercise. Start with squats if you can do them, (ie no injury history), then presses, and you can do high foot placement and lower/mid foot placement presses 4 set minimums. For inner "groin" area you can get in a smith machine, flat bench, on back, hip joints level with slides, where hands can grip the frame, put 200 on bar and balance bar on insoles, roll bar toward toes and press up and down, not too far down, will really put lactic acid and stretch on groin muscle groups, will build weight quickly. DO NOT ROLL PELVIS OFF OF BENCH, this will instantly involve back, and can very, very easily result in injury. I do this because I can't squat due to a bad back, but you must be strict, and build weight slowly. Will very much thicken top thighs on inner, but will make legs look shorter as well, I start with these, then presses up and low, then extensions. Don't forget hams and calves. I'm another bb from texas. Remember genetics... and get the required protein, SHAKES.
