12 gauge shotgun that is. it'll cost me about 550 bucks. i saw it at wal mart today, yes i was there getting my oil changed.

now i have to decide on the shotgun or a pistol of the same cost or less.

any suggestions? serious replies only please.

you'll be hard press to hide a shotgun in your glove department or in your pants if you ever find yourself in a situation that is less than favorable. Pistol all the way, unless you're planning on blowing off a bank or something, then a shotgun and ski mask for sure.

lol, i'd rather have the pistol but which brand i don't know. i know berettas are too expensive, maybe a gloc or smith and wesson. i have'nt kept up with them in the last few years. the shotgun would be nice to keep in the closet but i have to pick one for now.

Go for the pistol.

About 8 months ago a friend of mine who i worked with took me to a shooting range. We fired a WWII Luger pistol, a standard issue WWI pistol, and a .357 Magnum. It was one of the most fun nights I've ever had.

for personal defense: pistol

Hunting: shotgun.

You fucking conservative monkey. a self defense whistle is all you need. Just blow it, and the cops will show up to protect you.

Did you try

www.auctionarms.com

They don't have any good deals on beretta shotguns though.

i don't know alot about guns. Does the name brand really matter? I mean, is a glock or beretta really better made (less likely to fall apart) than a local brand. I'm asking seriously, i don't know. I bought a local brand gun a year ago, it still works fine.

Just my opinion:

If you're taking it outside the house: go for the pistol.

If it's just for home defense: shotgun, definitely.

Someone coming at you in your house, you've got more knock-down power without having to aim as accurately. ...plus, the shot is less likely to penetrate numerous walls and take out a loved one. (unlikely, but it's happened.)

For personal defense- a hand gun is best. Glock's are great, but pricey. I love the Glock .40!

Taurus has really stepped up and their handguns are a good choce.

I personally have a S7W .45 with a 4" barrel as my primary, and a S & W .22 Ultra Light as an ankle piece!
Bought before S & W faggged out to the anti-gun pissants!

Pistol for home defense for sure. I have a baretta 390 Sportclay shotgun. If it's for outdoor fun go for it. Only kind of shotgun I would use for home use for hime defense would be a scattergun with a pistol grip such as a mossberg.
