Going to set up my home gym

Hey guys and gals, wondering what you think of this idea.

I've had a large amount of time to think, out of complete boredom from not currently having a job. I currently own a bench, 2 dumbells, a barbell, and about 350 pounds in weight. My idea came from my current situation. My house is tiny, and I currently have my bench and weights in a very small room (the den). Barely enough to actually use the bench. My thinking was, to buy a Portable building (the built kind, door, sturdy. I'm thinking, it has plenty of room for all of my weights, and if I build a system, I should be able to use the rafters, or put up a bar for my lat pullups and such. It will be put in my backyard, and I will be able to use it anytime I choose! This will be coming out of my college money, so I need to make sure its a good plan. I'm completely ready to change into a complete bodybuilding state of mind. I have been partial for about 3 months now. Anyone else seen a setup like this, or have any negative, or positive thoughts on it?

I'm ready to change my life, completely. I am moving to a job with far less hours, and will be devoting a large part of my life to this lifestyle. I have read these boards now for about 4 months, and feel I have enough knowledge to get myself started. I can't wait!

Anyways, I'm going to sleep soon. Going to get up and try to work out so intensly I alteast hurl.

IMO.. save the money and start liftin.. workout in your driveway if you have no room inside... just lift, lift, lift!

Before you put up a portable building familiarise yourself with your area's building codes. Under a cretain size you should be ok without having to get building permission - find out what that is. Also some areas have bizarre ordinances re that sort of thing to stop illegal renting or folks runnnig businesses in a residential area etc.

Plus you will need to heat it in winter, if you are anywhere other than FL or AZ, in which case A/C is a must.

Go for it though, if you can, sounds great, no waiting to use the bench....

Circusgirl - I have 2 neibors with portables in their back yards. I think we are good. :D I don't think I will need heating that bad, just dress real heavy.. Im in central texas, doesn't ever get thaaat cold. Regarding heat in the summer, I will probobly just go for alot of fans. Not going to live in it, I can put up with heat long enough to lift, just keep myself hydrated.

CrimsonKing - Their is no room even in my garage to store my bench, which would make working out in my driveway (which I do now), extrememly difficult. I do my overhead presses, bent over rows, and Deadlifts outside. among others while im out there.. But as far as Benching and Squating (where I need the bench/rack), its a pain in the ass to drag it thru my front door every single time I need to workout. Would take me nearly 30 mins just to get all the weights, and equipment outside. The building would also help in terms of weather. Rain or shine, I would be in there.

No school ATM. I love the comfort of my home aswell.. the money is not a problem at all, my mom is going to help pay for this project.

You can do it all in your garage with nothing but a barbell and weights - Do Zercher Squats, Deadlift, Clean + Press, Floor Bench Press.. All it takes is determination...

I pushed my Mom's volkswagon beetle up as far as it would go. took apart my bench (2 seperate peices, the bench and the rack), and went at it tonight.. check out my log.

Thank you all for your input!
