Going for a new hair look, what does everyone think?

I want to go for a new look. I've had the "look at me, my hair looks like shit" look for too long. I want to grow my hair down to my shoulders then shave everything underneath it and just leave the top part of the hair, parting it down the middle. Then I want to pull it back to the back of my head and tie it, kind of like a pony tail except it will put on top of my head. Kind of like a topknot, just more hair and the topknot goes back. I also want to grow my sideburns really long and have it wide, where it goes below my upper lip and almost connects to my mustach (but I am gonna cut my mustach off). What does everything think, I want to be different and I've once saw a guy with this look and thought it was pretty cool. He was blonde though, I have dark brown hair. Perhaps I'll highlight it.
