I am a hardgainer and have moderate strength. I am 6foot2 and relatively lean at 200 pounds. I was wondering if being able to bench press your own weight ten times is a good show of strength. A friend told me that I should also be able to squat 1.5 times my weight for ten reps. Are these good guidelines? I just need some goals to shoot for.

I've heard that for a person with average genetics etc, the 400, 300, 500 is a good target for 1 rep max.

400lb Squat, 300lb Bench and 500lb Deadlift.

Clearly different people will excel at different exercises, but this seems like a decent guide for an advanced trainer. Don't know if these will make realistic short term targets for you, guess it depends on what you do now, but its an idea.

I can bench my weight 10 times easily. I have a bulging chest and I am short 5'5 - so it really shows. I will probably lose the bulge because Im still growing...but Ill keep up for sure. A good show of strength is just better than what you did before. Fuck what other ppl think. If youre doing better than last times workout, thats a show of improved strength and u should be proud.
Once you get to your goal, you always want more. So I dont know......you will never be satisfied. Keep liftin.
