If you're not Italian, these are just rolled dumplings made of potato, flour and sometimes ricotta that you boil just like pasta. They sell them frozen with the ravioli at the supermarket or specialty pasta shops have the homemade kind which are a lot better.
Anyways, I've been dieting for the last few weeks for summer and usually have one small complex carb meal along with my protein midday. Anytime that I eat rice, yams or pasta for my carbs they seem to get digested very fast and I'm hungry again in a few hours. With gnocchi I seem to be full for hours just as if I had a huge bowl of oatmeal. My energy levels also are more stable. This food used to be totally off limits when dieting before but I'm reconsidering now. They're low in fat and seems to "stick" to you stomache and digest slowly just like oats. If you're looking for a change definitely give it a try. Great with tomato sauce and cheese if you're not dieting.
